SilverDoor, a global provider of corporate serviced apartments, has appointed Shelley Mathews as Head of Business Development for Europe, the Middle East, Africa (EMEA) and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Mathews takes up the role with immediate effect, tasked with driving the company's commercial strategy across these regions and broadening its corporate client portfolio.

Mathews brings more than two decades of experience in business travel and corporate accommodation. She previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at Take2Eton, and held senior positions at CTM and ATPI, where she built high-performing sales teams and cultivated international partnerships. Her expertise spans sales strategy, pipeline development, and profit-and-loss management across diverse markets.

Leadership confidence

Claire Barrie, Chief Commercial Officer at SilverDoor, expressed strong confidence in the appointment. "Shelley's experience speaks for itself; she has spent two decades building commercial teams and relationships that last, and she really understands what corporate clients are looking for," Barrie said.

Mathews herself is enthusiastic about the new challenge. "I'm delighted to be joining SilverDoor at such an exciting stage in its growth. The business has built a strong reputation for understanding the needs of corporate clients and delivering a high-quality, genuinely global service," she commented.

The appointment comes as SilverDoor continues its global expansion, supporting corporate clients with serviced apartments for relocation, project work, and extended stays. The company aims to strengthen client partnerships and explore new growth opportunities across EMEA and APAC.

SilverDoor's platform connects travel managers and bookers with a wide range of serviced apartment options, offering flexibility and cost efficiency compared to traditional hotels. The company has been expanding its footprint in key business hubs, including London, Singapore, and Dubai, to meet rising demand from multinational corporations.

Industry observers note that the serviced apartment sector is gaining traction as companies seek more adaptable accommodation solutions for business travelers. The trend is particularly evident in regions like APAC, where rapid economic growth and increasing corporate travel are driving demand for extended-stay options.

Mathews' appointment is expected to accelerate SilverDoor's growth in these markets, leveraging her extensive network and proven track record in building commercial teams. Her focus will be on deepening relationships with existing clients while attracting new corporate accounts across a range of industries.

SilverDoor's move aligns with broader industry shifts toward flexible accommodation, as seen in the rise of remote work driving long-stay bookings and the growing popularity of serviced apartments among business travelers. The company's expansion in EMEA and APAC is also supported by increasing air connectivity and business travel flows, such as the new air links boosting Colombo's integrated resort.

With Mathews at the helm of business development, SilverDoor is well-positioned to capitalize on these trends and strengthen its position as a leading provider of corporate serviced accommodation worldwide.
