The Murray, Hong Kong, a Niccolo Hotel, has rolled out a fresh set of exclusive experiences for members of GHA DISCOVERY, the loyalty programme operated by Global Hotel Alliance. The new additions include a guided heritage tour of the property and a seasonal afternoon tea, both designed to deepen the connection between guests and the hotel's storied past.

GHA DISCOVERY, which is free to join, already offers members preferential rates, DISCOVERY Dollars (D$) and curated local experiences. The latest offering, “The Murray Tour and Afternoon Tea for Two,” invites members to explore the hotel's architecture and history before settling into the Garden Lounge for a traditional tea service. Priced at HKD 888 (approximately USD 113) for two, the experience includes a glass of sparkling wine or a selection of teas for each guest.

Seasonal refresh and cultural immersion

In addition to the tour, The Murray has refreshed its local offer with an “Autumn Bliss” afternoon tea, featuring seasonal treats that highlight the flavours of the season. This offer is also priced at HKD 888 for two and includes a complimentary glass of Saicho sparkling tea or wine per guest.

For in-house guests, the hotel has introduced “The Murray & Central Cultural Tour,” an exclusive guided walk that explores the hotel's architecture and the surrounding Central district. The itinerary includes stops at the historic Cassia Javanica tree, Hong Kong Park, and the Central Business District, offering a deeper understanding of the area's evolution.

The Murray holds a One MICHELIN Key and is part of the Hong Kong SAR Government's Conserving Central initiative. The hotel occupies the iconic Murray Building, which has been meticulously restored to house 336 rooms and suites, a rooftop bar, and several dining venues.

These new experiences are part of a broader trend in the hospitality industry to enhance loyalty programmes with local, immersive activities. As travel demand continues to recover, hotels are increasingly looking to differentiate themselves through unique guest experiences. This move by The Murray aligns with similar efforts across the region, such as the surge in K-pop tours driving travel demand in Asia Pacific, which underscores the growing appetite for culturally rich travel.

For travel professionals, the expansion of GHA DISCOVERY benefits at The Murray signals a continued focus on loyalty as a key driver of direct bookings and guest retention. The programme's DISCOVERY Dollars can be earned and redeemed across a portfolio of more than 800 hotels worldwide, making these local offers a compelling reason for members to choose The Murray for their next stay in Hong Kong.

The hotel's commitment to heritage and culture is evident in its architecture and programming. The Murray Building, originally completed in 1969, was repurposed as part of the government's conservation scheme, and the hotel's design pays homage to its mid-century modernist roots while offering contemporary luxury. The new tours and tea experiences are a natural extension of this narrative, allowing guests to engage with the property's history in a tangible way.

As the travel industry continues to evolve, such initiatives are likely to become more common, with hotels leveraging their unique assets to create memorable moments for guests. For GHA DISCOVERY members, The Murray's latest offerings provide an added incentive to explore Hong Kong's vibrant Central district while enjoying the comforts of a Michelin-keyed property.
