Adina Hotels has expanded its Australian portfolio with the opening of Adina Hobart, a property that brings the brand's apartment-style hospitality to Tasmania's capital. The hotel, which opened its doors this week, marks the final piece in Adina's nationwide presence, giving the brand a foothold in every Australian state and territory.
Situated in Hobart's city centre, the hotel is designed to reflect the surrounding landscape, with interiors that draw on the state's natural heritage. Local photographers Elliott and Annalisa Doedens contributed imagery showcasing areas such as Mt Field and Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair, bringing a sense of the Tasmanian wilderness into the urban setting.
The property offers studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, with select interconnecting rooms that can be combined into three-bedroom configurations. Each unit includes a full kitchen and dedicated spaces for living, working, and relaxing, catering to both leisure and business travellers. Guests also have access to the Belvedere restaurant and bar, conference facilities, a pool, and a gym, which are shared with the adjacent Vibe Hobart.
Design rooted in place
Richard Doedens, the hotel's owner, emphasised the importance of creating a strong sense of place. "Our goal was to create a hotel that feels intrinsically connected to Tasmania," he said. The design incorporates natural timbers and a colour palette inspired by the state's eucalypt forests, reinforcing the connection between the built environment and the natural world.
General Manager Jamie Capp highlighted the strategic value of the apartment-style format. "Flat-style accommodation supports longer stays, which in turn benefits local businesses," he noted. The extended-stay model is increasingly relevant as Hobart attracts visitors seeking to explore the region's national parks and wilderness areas.
Adina Hobart is owned by Raadas Investments Pty Ltd and operated by TFE Hotels, with interiors designed by Clifford Rip of Suede Interior Design. The property adds to TFE's growing presence in Tasmania, complementing the nearby Vibe Hobart and expanding the group's offering in the state.
The opening comes as Hobart's hotel market continues to evolve, with demand driven by both tourism and business travel. The city has seen a steady increase in visitor numbers, and the addition of apartment-style accommodation is expected to appeal to travellers seeking more space and flexibility.
For travel professionals, the new property offers another option for clients planning extended stays in Tasmania. The combination of self-catering facilities and hotel services positions Adina Hobart as a versatile choice for families, corporate travellers, and those looking to base themselves in the city while exploring the island's attractions.
Adina Hotels, part of TFE Hotels, operates properties across Australia and New Zealand, with a focus on apartment-style accommodation. The Hobart opening completes the brand's Australian network, which now covers all major cities and key regional centres.
As the property begins operations, it is expected to contribute to the local economy by attracting visitors who might otherwise bypass Hobart or opt for shorter stays. The hotel's design-led approach also aligns with broader trends in the hospitality sector, where authenticity and local connection are increasingly valued by travellers.
With its blend of design, comfort, and practicality, Adina Hobart is set to become a notable addition to Tasmania's accommodation landscape, offering a distinct alternative to traditional hotels in the city.
