Aman Group, the ultra-luxury hospitality brand known for its portfolio of resorts and hotels in destinations from Bhutan to Venice, has named Victor Clavell as its new Chief Operating Officer. Based at the company's Swiss corporate office, Clavell will report directly to Chairman and CEO Vlad Doronin.
Clavell brings more than three decades of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, having held senior roles at The Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, and Rosewood. Most recently, he served as CEO of Urban Resort Concepts in Hong Kong, where he led the global expansion of The PuLi Group. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President & Managing Director at Rosewood Hotel Group, overseeing its European and Middle Eastern portfolio.
Operational Focus and Brand Growth
In his new role, Clavell will be responsible for maintaining high standards of guest experience and financial performance across all Aman properties and its sister brand Janu. He will work closely with Doronin to support the company's expansion into new hotels, resorts, and lifestyle verticals. Aman currently operates 34 hotels and resorts worldwide, with additional projects under development in locations such as Tokyo, Bangkok, and the Dominican Republic.
“Aman has set the benchmark for luxury hospitality for more than three decades, and I am delighted to join the company as it continues to evolve,” Clavell said in a statement. Doronin praised the appointment, highlighting Clavell's “global expertise, operational discipline, and deep understanding of luxury hospitality” as key assets for the group's ongoing evolution.
The appointment comes as Aman Group accelerates its growth strategy, which includes the launch of Janu, a more accessible brand aimed at a younger demographic, and expansion into urban markets. The company has also ventured into luxury residences, with projects in Miami, New York, and London.
Clavell's leadership is expected to drive operational excellence as Aman enters its next phase of development. The group's focus on maintaining exclusivity while scaling its portfolio presents a challenge that Clavell's experience at brands like Rosewood and Bulgari is well-suited to address.
For travel professionals, this move signals Aman's commitment to strengthening its operational backbone as it competes with other ultra-luxury players such as Four Seasons, Belmond, and Oetker Collection. The appointment also underscores the growing importance of operational discipline in the luxury segment, where guest expectations are higher than ever.
As the hospitality industry continues to recover from the pandemic, luxury brands are investing heavily in leadership talent to capture demand from high-net-worth travelers. Clavell's track record in managing global portfolios and driving expansion makes him a strategic fit for Aman's ambitions.
