Cap Maison Resort & Spa, the cliff-top luxury property in Saint Lucia, has appointed Carl Beviere as its new general manager, succeeding Ross Stevenson. Beviere brings more than three decades of Caribbean hospitality leadership to the role, with a track record spanning some of the region's most recognised resort brands.

Beviere's career includes senior positions at Sandals Resorts, where he oversaw operations across multiple properties, and most recently he led the pre-opening and launch of Royalton Vessence Barbados, a luxury all-inclusive resort that debuted in 2024. His return to Saint Lucia is a homecoming of sorts: he has deep ties to the Gobat family, owners of Cap Maison, dating back to the early years of his career.

A strategic appointment for Cap Maison

In his new role, Beviere will oversee all resort operations, with a focus on strengthening Cap Maison's culinary reputation and enhancing the guest experience. The property, which is a member of Relais & Châteaux, has built a following among luxury travellers seeking an intimate, personalised stay on the island's northwest coast.

“Returning to Saint Lucia and joining Cap Maison is incredibly special for me,” Beviere said. “I have watched this resort grow over the years, and I am excited to work with the team to build on its unique character and take it to the next level.”

Rufus Gobat, director at Cap Maison, welcomed Beviere's appointment, citing his extensive regional experience and personal connection to the family. “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Carl back to Saint Lucia and to Cap Maison,” Gobat said. “His deep understanding of Caribbean hospitality and his familiarity with our vision make him the ideal person to lead the resort into its next chapter.”

Beviere succeeds Ross Stevenson, who played a pivotal role in Cap Maison's development, including securing its membership in the Relais & Châteaux association. Gobat thanked Stevenson for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavours.

The appointment comes at a time when Caribbean luxury resorts are increasingly competing for discerning travellers, with a growing emphasis on authentic local experiences and sustainability. Cap Maison, known for its 52 suites and villas, its wine cellar, and its beachside restaurant, The Naked Fisherman, aims to differentiate itself through service and culinary excellence.

Beviere's experience in both all-inclusive and boutique luxury segments positions him well to navigate the evolving market. His tenure at Sandals and Royalton gave him insight into large-scale operations, while his earlier work with the Gobat family grounds him in the personalised approach that defines Cap Maison.

Industry observers note that leadership changes at independent luxury properties often signal strategic shifts, and Beviere's appointment suggests a continued focus on maintaining the resort's Relais & Châteaux standards while exploring new opportunities for growth.

For travel advisors and luxury tour operators, the change at Cap Maison is worth noting, as the resort remains a key option for clients seeking a high-end Caribbean escape with a strong sense of place. Beviere's familiarity with the region and his relationships with trade partners could also enhance the resort's visibility in key source markets.

Cap Maison is part of the growing portfolio of Caribbean properties that are investing in leadership talent to stay competitive. As the region sees a rebound in international arrivals, resorts like Cap Maison are betting on experienced general managers to drive performance and guest satisfaction.
