Bangkok's culinary scene is set to heat up this August as Chef Leo Cao, a master of Chinese barbecue from the JW Marriott Hotel Chengdu, brings his expertise to the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park. From 21 to 31 August 2026, diners can experience an authentic selection of barbecued and slow-roasted meats at the hotel's Pagoda Chinese Restaurant and Goji Kitchen + Bar.

Chef Leo, who heads the kitchen at Man Ho Chinese Restaurant in Chengdu, will collaborate with the Bangkok hotel's culinary team to present a menu that highlights the depth of Cantonese and Sichuan barbecue traditions. Signature dishes include Man Ho Special Crispy Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly, and Barbecued Peking Duck, each prepared with the precision and technique that have earned Chef Leo recognition across Asia.

A culinary bridge between Chengdu and Bangkok

The promotion, titled "Masters of the Chinese Barbecue," is more than a dining event—it's a cultural exchange that strengthens ties between two of Asia's most dynamic food capitals. "We are thrilled to welcome Chef Leo to Bangkok," said a spokesperson for the Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park. "His mastery of Chinese barbecue, combined with our team's dedication to hospitality, will offer our guests a truly memorable experience."

At Pagoda Chinese Restaurant, guests can enjoy the creations in a refined setting, with dishes like Crispy Roast Suckling Pig and Honey-Glazed Premium Barbecue Pork offering a taste of traditional Cantonese flavours. The restaurant's elegant ambiance, with its contemporary Chinese decor, provides an ideal backdrop for a leisurely meal.

Meanwhile, Goji Kitchen + Bar will feature these specialties as part of its buffet offerings, allowing diners to sample the dishes alongside a variety of international cuisines. This integration highlights the versatility of Chinese barbecue and its ability to complement global flavours.

Each dish is thoughtfully paired with a selection of Chinese teas and fine wines, enhancing the dining experience. The tea pairings, curated by the hotel's sommeliers, include oolong and pu-erh varieties that cleanse the palate and complement the rich, smoky notes of the barbecue.

Prices at Pagoda Chinese Restaurant start from $15 (THB 540++) per dish, while buffet options at Goji Kitchen + Bar begin at $56 (THB 1,999++) per person. Bookings can be made online for both venues, and early reservations are recommended given the expected demand.

This event underscores the growing trend of chef collaborations across the region, as hotels seek to offer unique culinary experiences that attract both local and international guests. For travel professionals, it represents an opportunity to recommend a distinctive dining experience to clients visiting Bangkok in late August.

The Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen's Park, one of the largest hotels in the city, continues to position itself as a culinary destination. The property's diverse dining portfolio, which includes international and Thai restaurants, is a key draw for both leisure and business travellers.

For those planning itineraries, the promotion aligns with the broader MICE and events calendar in Bangkok, making it a convenient addition to corporate travel programs. Additionally, the hotel's location in the heart of Sukhumvit offers easy access for delegates and tourists alike.

Chef Leo's visit is part of a broader exchange between Marriott properties in China and Southeast Asia, reflecting the group's commitment to culinary excellence and cross-cultural collaboration. Similar initiatives have been seen at other properties, such as the JW Marriott Khao Lak's chocolate factory, which highlights local ingredients and craftsmanship.

As the travel industry continues to recover, such gastronomic events are becoming increasingly important in driving hotel revenue and enhancing brand loyalty. For agents, promoting these limited-time experiences can add value to client itineraries and encourage repeat visits.

The "Masters of the Chinese Barbecue" promotion is a testament to the power of culinary diplomacy, bringing together chefs from different cultures to create something truly special. It promises to be a highlight of Bangkok's dining calendar this summer.
