Marriott International has introduced its City Express brand to the Indian subcontinent with the opening of a new property on the Udaipur-Nathdwara Highway. The hotel, located in Rajasthan, marks the first City Express by Marriott in South Asia and strengthens the company's midscale portfolio in a region that attracts both pilgrims and leisure travelers.
The property sits roughly 35 kilometers from Maharana Pratap Airport and 30 kilometers from Udaipur Railway Station, offering convenient access for domestic and international guests. Its position along the highway to Nathdwara, a significant Hindu pilgrimage site, positions it to capture steady demand from religious tourism while also serving business travelers passing through the corridor.

The hotel comprises 56 guestrooms equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, LED televisions, and USB charging ports. An all-day dining restaurant serves a mix of local and international cuisine, and a fitness center is available for guests looking to maintain their routines while on the road.
As part of the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, guests can earn and redeem points during their stay, a feature that is expected to appeal to frequent travelers familiar with the program's benefits.
Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product & Services Officer for Asia Pacific excluding China at Marriott International, underscored India's importance as a growth market. "Built around quality, simplicity, and value, the brand responds to the needs of today's travelers with modern comforts and an efficient stay experience," he said.
General Manager Abhishek Jha expressed pride in bringing the brand to India, emphasizing the hotel's focus on quality and genuine hospitality. The opening aligns with Marriott's broader strategy to expand its midscale offerings in high-potential markets across Asia.
The launch comes as Marriott continues to deepen its footprint in India, a market where the company has been actively adding properties across segments. The new City Express hotel is expected to complement Marriott's existing presence in the region, which includes full-service brands like JW Marriott and Marriott Hotels.
Industry observers note that the midscale segment in India is gaining traction as domestic travel grows and travelers seek reliable, affordable options. The City Express brand, which originated in Mexico, is designed to deliver a streamlined experience without compromising on essential comforts.
For travel professionals, the opening adds a new option for clients visiting the Udaipur-Nathdwara corridor, a route that has seen increased interest in recent years. The hotel's location also makes it a practical choice for those combining business with leisure in southern Rajasthan.
Marriott's expansion in India mirrors its broader Asia-Pacific growth strategy, which has seen the company add properties in key markets such as Thailand and China. The company's recent moves include expanding its Thai portfolio with seven new hotels and localizing its brands in China without losing their global identity.
As the travel industry continues to recover, midscale brands like City Express are well positioned to capture demand from value-conscious travelers. The Udaipur-Nathdwara property is expected to serve as a template for further City Express openings in India and other South Asian markets.
With its strategic location, modern amenities, and integration into Marriott Bonvoy, the hotel aims to deliver a seamless and comfortable experience for guests. The opening also underscores Marriott's commitment to investing in India's hospitality infrastructure, a sector that has shown resilience and growth potential.
