Club Med Lifestyle Group, the resort arm of Chinese conglomerate Fosun International, has taken a significant step toward a public listing by filing an application with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange's Main Board. The move signals a strategic push to capitalise on the growing demand for premium all-inclusive holidays, particularly in Asia and the Middle East.

The company, which operates under the iconic Club Med brand, currently manages 69 resorts worldwide. Its expansion blueprint targets 85 properties by 2030, with a focus on high-growth destinations and new market entries. The listing proceeds are earmarked to accelerate this global network growth, enhance the group's holiday offerings, and invest in digital and AI capabilities to improve guest personalisation and operational efficiency.

Financial performance underpins expansion

According to the listing application, Club Med Lifestyle Group's revenue climbed from EUR1.86 billion in 2023 to EUR1.95 billion in 2025. Gross profit rose from EUR540 million to EUR590 million over the same period, while adjusted EBITDA reached EUR390 million, representing a margin of 20.2%. These figures reinforce Club Med's position as the world's largest all-inclusive resort brand by business volume in 2025.

Industry analysts view the IPO as a logical step for Fosun to unlock value from its travel assets, especially as the group continues to diversify beyond its core conglomerate businesses. The listing would provide a dedicated public vehicle for investors to gain exposure to the premium resort segment, which has shown resilience amid broader economic volatility.

Club Med's strategy under Fosun has evolved from its traditional European ski and beach resorts to a more global footprint, with recent openings in China, Southeast Asia, and the Caribbean. The company has also invested in upgrading its existing properties to meet the expectations of modern luxury travellers, who increasingly seek wellness, cultural immersion, and family-friendly experiences.

The planned use of funds also includes optimising the company's capital structure and supporting daily operations, which suggests a focus on financial discipline as it scales. This aligns with broader trends in the hospitality sector, where operators are balancing aggressive growth with profitability.

Travel industry observers note that the Hong Kong listing could set a precedent for other Fosun travel-related assets, potentially including its tourism and leisure divisions. The move also comes at a time when Asian capital markets are seeing renewed interest from global hospitality groups seeking to tap into regional investor appetite.

Club Med's expansion plans are not without challenges. The company faces intense competition from other all-inclusive operators such as Sandals, Iberostar, and Meliá, as well as from luxury hotel brands entering the resort space. However, its strong brand equity, loyal customer base, and operational expertise give it a competitive edge.

The company's digital and AI investments are particularly noteworthy, as they aim to enhance the guest journey from booking to post-stay engagement. By leveraging data analytics, Club Med hopes to personalise offers, optimise pricing, and improve operational efficiency across its global portfolio.

For travel professionals, the listing could signal new partnership opportunities, as a publicly listed Club Med may have more resources to invest in trade programmes, agent incentives, and technology integrations. The company has historically worked closely with travel advisors and tour operators, and this move could strengthen those relationships.

As the IPO process unfolds, the industry will be watching closely to see how Club Med positions itself in a competitive landscape. The company's ability to execute its growth strategy while maintaining its premium positioning will be key to its success as a public entity.
