Dusit International continues its strategic expansion across India with the signing of a hotel management agreement for Dusit Princess Rishikesh. Scheduled to open in 2031, the property will be developed by Atmosphere and marks the introduction of the Dusit Princess brand in the spiritual and wellness hub of Uttarakhand.
The mixed-use development will feature 300 keys, comprising hotel rooms and luxury duplex villas, set against the backdrop of the Himalayan foothills. Facilities will include a lobby lounge, business centre, all-day dining restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, gym, yoga room, and multipurpose spaces. A dedicated clubhouse will offer a spa, infinity pool, and a restaurant with 250 covers, catering to both leisure and business travellers.
Wellness-Driven Hospitality in a Growing Market
Rishikesh, known globally as the Yoga Capital of the World, attracts a steady flow of domestic and international visitors seeking spiritual retreats, adventure tourism, and wellness experiences. Dusit International’s entry aligns with the rising demand for premium wellness-led accommodations in secondary Indian cities. The property will leverage Dusit’s signature approach to Thai-inspired hospitality and holistic well-being.
Siradej Donavanik, Vice President of Development Global at Dusit International, commented: “Rishikesh, with its unique blend of spirituality, wellness, and natural beauty, is an excellent example of the kind of destination where we believe our brands can create meaningful and memorable experiences for our guests.”
Sanchit Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Atmosphere, added: “With Dusit’s globally recognised hospitality expertise and strong wellness-driven approach, we are confident that Dusit Princess Rishikesh will emerge as a distinguished retreat for travellers seeking immersive and elevated stay experiences in Uttarakhand.”
The signing follows the opening of dusitD2 Fagu Shimla in December 2024, reinforcing Dusit International’s commitment to expanding its portfolio in India. The group now operates multiple properties across the country under its Dusit Thani, dusitD2, and Dusit Princess brands.
India’s hospitality sector continues to attract international operators, with several groups announcing new projects in wellness and spiritual destinations. For context, Marriott India’s recent sustainability initiatives highlight the industry’s broader focus on responsible growth. Meanwhile, the rise in domestic travel to hill stations and spiritual hubs is reflected in trends such as increased trekker demand for Leh, Kasol, and McLeod Ganj.
Dusit International’s expansion strategy targets key leisure and business destinations across Asia, with India identified as a priority market. The group’s wellness-centric approach positions it well to capture the growing segment of travellers seeking holistic experiences.
As the global travel industry rebounds, hoteliers are increasingly investing in properties that combine luxury with wellness. The Dusit Princess Rishikesh is expected to contribute to the local economy by creating jobs and supporting tourism infrastructure in Uttarakhand.
