Dusit International is broadening its footprint in Southeast Asia with the introduction of its lifestyle brand ASAI to Malaysia. The group has confirmed that ASAI Gamuda Cove will open on 15 September 2026, marking the first ASAI property outside an urban neighbourhood and the company's second hotel in the country.
Situated within the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township in Selangor, the 13-storey hotel sits roughly 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The location is strategic for transit passengers and leisure travellers alike, offering proximity to the Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary, as well as the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum. Nearby attractions also include SplashMania Waterpark and Discovery Park, making the property a viable base for family-oriented stays.
Designed for flexible stays
The hotel will feature 280 rooms tailored to solo travellers, couples, and families, with an emphasis on comfort and adaptability. Guests can expect views over the wetlands and the arboretum, while on-site amenities include an infinity pool, a gym, co-working spaces, and dining venues that blend Malaysian and Thai culinary traditions. The all-day restaurant, Nasi & Khao, will serve a menu of Malaysian classics and Thai flavours, reflecting Dusit's Thai heritage.
Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO of Dusit International, said in a statement: “ASAI Gamuda Cove shows how our Live Local approach can work in a setting where nature, recreation, and a growing community come together.” The executive's comments underscore the brand's strategy of embedding hotels into local contexts, a concept that has resonated in city locations across Asia.
The property is also positioned to capitalise on event-driven demand. Sepang International Circuit, host of the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix from 2–4 October 2026, is conveniently located nearby. That race weekend is expected to draw significant international visitors, and ASAI Gamuda Cove could serve as a convenient base for motorsport fans. Malaysia's broader push to leverage F1 for tourism is already on the radar, as the country prepares to welcome the race back after a lengthy hiatus.
ASAI Gamuda Cove is part of Dusit's wider expansion in Malaysia. The group opened Dusit Princess Melaka in 2024, and Dusit Princess Ipoh is slated to debut in October 2026. These additions align with the company's goal of growing its presence in secondary and emerging destinations across the region.
For travel trade partners, the new property offers a fresh option for clients seeking a stay that combines airport convenience with nature-based recreation. The hotel's co-working spaces and flexible room configurations also make it suitable for bleisure travellers, a segment that continues to grow in Malaysia. The country's business travel sector is projected to reach US$8 billion in revenue, and properties like ASAI Gamuda Cove are well placed to capture a share of that demand.
Dusit's move into Malaysia's suburban leisure market reflects a broader trend among international hotel groups to diversify beyond city centres. With the ASAI brand, the company is targeting a younger, experience-driven traveller who values authenticity and local immersion. The Gamuda Cove development, with its mix of residential, commercial, and recreational components, provides a ready-made ecosystem for such a concept.
As Malaysia gears up for Visit Malaysia 2026, the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove adds to the country's growing inventory of lifestyle hotels. The property's proximity to KLIA and its access to nature reserves could make it a compelling option for stopover travellers and weekend getaways alike. Dusit's commitment to the Malaysian market is evident, and the ASAI brand's debut outside a city setting will be closely watched by industry observers.
