Expedia Travel Agent Affiliate Programme (TAAP) has rolled out a set of platform enhancements designed to give travel advisers more control over their operational workflows. The update, announced today, includes a back-office API and a flexible booking-tagging feature that together aim to reduce manual reconciliation and improve data visibility.

Real-Time Data Integration via Back-Office API

The centerpiece of the release is a new back-office API that delivers real-time booking and earnings data directly into an agency’s own systems. Previously, many agencies had to piece together information from multiple sources and manually reconcile transactions. The API now provides a single, automated feed that keeps itineraries current and simplifies financial tracking. This integration allows agencies to embed Expedia TAAP data into their existing operational and financial platforms without custom coding.

Robin Lawther, Vice President of Expedia TAAP and Business Development, said: “These new capabilities are focused on helping agencies operate more efficiently at every step.” The API is intended to reduce the time advisers spend on administrative tasks, freeing them to concentrate on client relationships and strategic growth.

Internal Reference Codes for Smarter Booking Management

Alongside the API, Expedia TAAP now allows advisers to assign internal reference codes to individual bookings. This feature gives agencies a flexible way to tag and organize reservations by client, trip, or internal system. The codes can be used to streamline reporting and trip management, making it easier to track bookings across multiple channels and client portfolios.

For travel advisers who manage a high volume of bookings—whether for corporate travel, leisure groups, or MICE events—the ability to apply custom tags can significantly improve operational clarity. The feature is designed to work seamlessly with existing agency workflows, supporting productivity without requiring a major system overhaul.

From Booking Platform to Operations Hub

The enhancements mark a shift for Expedia TAAP from a pure booking platform toward a more integrated operations tool. By reducing manual work and improving data visibility, the platform aims to help agencies scale efficiently over time. The updates are particularly relevant for travel advisers who rely on accurate, real-time data to manage commissions, reconcile payments, and maintain up-to-date itineraries for clients.

As the travel industry continues to digitize, tools that automate back-office processes are becoming increasingly important. The Expedia TAAP API and reference codes join a growing ecosystem of travel technology solutions designed to help agencies operate more efficiently. For example, recent reports suggest that AI agents are expected to handle a significant share of OTA hotel bookings by 2027, underscoring the need for robust data integration.

Travel advisers who use Expedia TAAP can now access these features immediately. The company says the updates are part of a broader effort to support adviser productivity and enable agencies to grow without being bogged down by manual processes.
