Explora Journeys is set to launch its third vessel, Explora III, marking a significant step forward in the brand's vision of ultra-luxury ocean travel. The ship will begin with a low-key Mediterranean prelude on July 24, offering travel professionals and select guests an early look at its refined design and expanded amenities. The official naming ceremony takes place in Barcelona on August 1, followed by a seven-night maiden voyage to Lisbon on August 3.
Design and Accommodation
Explora III is conceived as a floating luxury hotel, with more space than its predecessors while preserving the intimate atmosphere that defines the brand. New Ocean Penthouses, Ocean Residences, and an additional Owner's Residence create a residential feel that balances expansiveness with personal comfort. The interiors feature European design touches, and curated retail spaces include Cartier, Rolex, and Chopard.
Culinary Innovations
Three new dining concepts lead the culinary program. The Cellar by Explora Journeys offers guided wine tastings, the Chef's Table provides a fully bespoke dining experience, and Shore Club on 11 brings Mediterranean-inspired poolside cuisine with seasonal menus that reflect the destinations visited. Menus evolve throughout the voyage to maintain a strong sense of place.
Wellness and Activities
The Ocean Wellness concept integrates fitness, relaxation, and mindfulness. Guests can use Technogym equipment, attend Reform Pilates sessions, participate in sound therapy, or unwind on expanded outdoor decks. The ship also offers padel and pickleball, reflecting a modern, lifestyle-driven approach to luxury travel.
Sustainability and Propulsion
Explora III is the first LNG-powered vessel in the Explora fleet, reducing emissions while maintaining high standards of comfort and design. This move aligns with broader industry trends toward lower-emission cruising, as seen in other luxury lines such as Silversea's 2028–29 voyage collection and Seabourn's Ruby Collection.
Itineraries
After its inaugural Mediterranean season, Explora III will sail to Northern Europe, Iceland, and Greenland, destinations suited to the ship's emphasis on immersive, slower travel. The vessel is designed not just to transport guests but to transform the journey itself, reinforcing the brand's philosophy that the sea is a destination in its own right.
For travel professionals, Explora III represents a clear statement about the direction of luxury cruising: less crowded, more thoughtful, and deeply attuned to how modern travelers want to experience the world. The ship's combination of residential-style suites, innovative dining, and LNG propulsion positions it as a benchmark for the segment.
