Tourism Fiji is broadening its marketing focus beyond honeymooners and families, positioning the archipelago as a prime choice for groups of friends seeking both adrenaline and downtime. The destination’s appeal now centres on the ability to mix ocean adventures with leisurely beach lunches, all within a single trip.
To showcase this versatility, Tourism Fiji recently hosted a group of Korean content creators who experienced a multi-island itinerary, demonstrating how travellers can combine distinct regions of Fiji in one journey. Vincent Zheng, Regional Director of Asia for Tourism Fiji, stressed the flexibility visitors have in shaping their own experience, whether that involves island hopping or engaging with local communities. “It is this combination of experiences and the genuine warmth of our people that makes Fiji such a special place to discover with friends,” he said.
Expanded air access from Asia
Connectivity from key Asian markets is set to improve significantly. Fiji Airways will increase its Hong Kong–Nadi service to five flights per week starting February 2027, up from the current frequency. Additional flights from Singapore and Tokyo are scheduled to commence in March and April 2027, respectively. These additions are expected to make Fiji more accessible for group travellers from major hubs such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.
The expanded schedule aligns with Tourism Fiji’s strategy to tap into the growing demand for multi-generational and friend-group travel in Asia. The airline’s route development is a critical component, as direct connectivity remains a key factor for group bookings.
Diverse accommodation and itinerary options
Fiji offers a wide range of lodging to suit different group dynamics. The Sheraton Resort & Spa on Tokoriki Island provides an active, family-friendly environment, while the adults-only Likuliku Lagoon Resort offers a more tranquil, upscale setting. For groups seeking flexibility, The Sebel Nuku Loaloa presents a relaxed beachfront base with apartment-style accommodations.
A sample eight-day itinerary includes scenic flights, island excursions, and marine encounters, allowing friends to tailor their experience based on interests and pace. This modular approach is designed to appeal to travellers who want both structured activities and free time to unwind.
Tourism Fiji’s push comes as other destinations in the region also court group travellers. For instance, andBeyond marks two decades in Asia with expert-led small group journeys, highlighting the broader trend toward curated group experiences. Similarly, UK tour operators have identified seven year-end destinations for 2026, reflecting the importance of group travel in the industry.
Travel agents and tour operators can leverage Fiji’s new positioning to create bespoke packages for friend groups, combining adventure activities like diving and surfing with cultural experiences and relaxation. The destination’s warm hospitality and diverse offerings make it a compelling option for those seeking a memorable group getaway.
With enhanced airlift and a clear marketing push, Fiji is well-positioned to capture a larger share of the friend-group travel segment from Asia and beyond.
