Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita has named Gregory Viaud as its new general manager, effective immediately. Viaud, a veteran of luxury hospitality with more than two decades in the industry, steps into the role as the property completes a significant renovation and repositioning.
Viaud previously served as the opening general manager of Four Seasons Hotel Rabat Kasr Al Bahr in Morocco, where he led the launch of that property. His career with Four Seasons also includes eight years across resort properties in Bora Bora, Bali, and Maui, giving him deep operational insight into island and luxury resort markets.
“Mauritius is a remarkable destination, and I am delighted to be joining the resort at such an exciting moment in its evolution,” Viaud said in a statement. His appointment signals continuity for the brand’s Indian Ocean strategy, which has seen increased attention from luxury travellers seeking remote, high-end escapes.
Leadership philosophy and local focus
Viaud’s management approach centres on team empowerment and fostering genuine connections, both among staff and with guests. He believes these elements are essential to delivering the personalised service that defines the Four Seasons experience. In Mauritius, he plans to strengthen the resort’s sense of place by celebrating Mauritian hospitality and curating experiences that immerse guests in the island’s culture and traditions.
The resort’s recent transformation included a reimagining of its all-pool villas, new dining concepts, and enhancements to the OSEYAN Spa, which is Mauritius’ only overwater spa. Viaud aims to build on these developments to ensure the property remains a leading choice in the competitive luxury resort segment of the Indian Ocean.
Industry observers note that the appointment comes at a time when luxury travel demand in Mauritius is robust, with several high-end properties investing in upgrades. The island continues to attract a mix of European, Middle Eastern, and Asian travellers, and the resort’s positioning is critical to capturing that demand.
Beyond his professional credentials, Viaud is described as a family man and sports enthusiast, with interests in football, tennis, and marine exploration. His passion for island life and the ocean aligns well with his new role, and he looks forward to discovering Mauritius’ rich culture and traditions.
Four Seasons has been active in expanding its global portfolio, with recent appointments and openings across Asia and the Middle East. For travel advisors and luxury tour operators, the leadership change at the Mauritius property is a signal of continued brand investment in the region. The resort’s enhanced facilities and new GM are expected to appeal to high-net-worth clients seeking exclusive, culturally immersive stays.
Viaud’s appointment follows other recent leadership moves within the Four Seasons group, such as the naming of Christian Wildhaber as general manager at Mandarin Oriental Geneva, highlighting the competitive talent market in luxury hospitality. For those planning Indian Ocean itineraries, the resort’s new direction may warrant attention, especially with the festive season approaching, as seen with other luxury operators in Mauritius like Lux Collective.
