Frasers Hospitality, the serviced residence arm of Singapore-listed Frasers Property, has officially opened Fraser Place Roppongi in Tokyo, marking its second property in Japan and its first in the capital. The 172-key property, located in the Minato district, is designed to cater to both short- and long-stay guests seeking a residential base in one of Tokyo's most dynamic neighborhoods.

Strategic expansion in Japan

The opening builds on the group's existing presence at Fraser Residence Nankai Osaka, extending its footprint across Japan's two primary urban hubs. Eu Chin Fen, CEO of Frasers Hospitality, said: “The opening of Fraser Place Roppongi, Tokyo strengthens our portfolio in Japan, building on Fraser Residence Nankai, Osaka and extending our presence across two of the country’s leading urban destinations.”

Japan remains a key growth market for international hospitality groups, with inbound tourism rebounding strongly post-pandemic. According to recent industry data, Tokyo continues to be the primary gateway for international visitors, while regional destinations are gaining traction. For operators like Frasers, the mix of corporate demand and leisure travel in Roppongi offers a balanced opportunity.

Product and amenities

Fraser Place Roppongi offers a range of accommodation options, from studios to one- and two-bedroom serviced apartments. Each unit includes a kitchenette, in-room washing machine, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, addressing the practical needs of extended-stay travelers. The property also features a Residents’ Lounge, a co-working hub, a fully equipped indoor gym, and meeting spaces suitable for business gatherings or private events.

The location in Roppongi places guests within easy reach of cultural and commercial landmarks such as Azabudai Hills and Tokyo Tower. The district is known for its art galleries, international dining, and nightlife, making it a preferred base for both corporate travelers and tourists exploring the capital.

Portfolio context

Fraser Place Roppongi joins Frasers Hospitality's global portfolio of more than 100 properties across 19 countries. The group operates under several brands, including Fraser Suites, Fraser Place, and Fraser Residence, targeting the upscale serviced apartment segment. This opening aligns with the company's strategy to grow in high-demand urban destinations across Asia Pacific and beyond.

The serviced apartment sector has seen renewed interest from investors and operators as travelers increasingly seek home-like amenities and flexible terms. Frasers' expansion in Tokyo reflects this trend, positioning the brand to capture demand from both business and leisure segments.

For travel professionals, the new property adds another option in Tokyo's competitive accommodation market, which includes established players like Ascott, Oakwood, and local operators. The Roppongi location, combined with Frasers' operational expertise, could appeal to corporate accounts and relocation specialists seeking quality extended-stay options.

As Japan continues to attract record numbers of visitors, the addition of Fraser Place Roppongi underscores the ongoing investment in the country's hospitality infrastructure. With its strategic location and comprehensive amenities, the property is set to become a preferred choice for travelers seeking a residential experience in the heart of Tokyo.
