Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has expanded its luxury portfolio with the opening of Brij Tara, an intimate retreat set on nine acres in Ranthambore. The property, which features 17 villas, cottages, and residences, is designed to immerse guests in the region's natural and cultural heritage while providing the privacy and comfort expected of a high-end wilderness stay.
Brij Tara joins IHCL's growing collection of boutique and experiential properties, which now includes more than 670 hotels worldwide, with a further 280 in the pipeline. The retreat is positioned to cater to discerning travellers seeking a deeper connection with the destination, a segment that has seen sustained growth in India's luxury travel market.
Dining and wellness anchored in local character
The resort's culinary offerings are led by Tara Mahal, an all-day dining venue that showcases Rajasthan's rich gastronomic traditions. For evening relaxation, Mehfil, a bar inspired by the surrounding landscape and wildlife, offers a curated selection of beverages. Taalab, the poolside restaurant, specialises in wood-fired and charcoal-grilled dishes, while Arama Spa delivers therapies focused on holistic well-being, drawing on regional wellness practices.
These facilities are intended to complement the retreat's core appeal: the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park. Guests can participate in wildlife safaris, birdwatching excursions, and guided nature walks, with opportunities for bush dinners, interactions with local artisans, and stargazing. Such curated experiences reflect a broader trend in luxury hospitality toward authentic, place-based programming.
“Brij focuses on creating intimate retreats that reflect the character of their surroundings and offer guests a more meaningful way to experience a destination. Brij Tara brings this philosophy to Ranthambore through a setting that is rooted in nature, local culture and the rhythms of the wilderness,” said Udit Kumar, Co-Founder of Brij.
The launch of Brij Tara follows IHCL's recent debut of the JW Marriott Ranthambore, which marked the 11th JW property in India. Together, these openings signal IHCL's strategic focus on Ranthambore as a key destination for high-end wildlife tourism.
For travel professionals, Brij Tara offers a new option for clients seeking a luxury safari experience with a strong cultural component. The property's small scale and bespoke activities make it suitable for FITs and honeymooners, while its proximity to the tiger reserve appeals to wildlife enthusiasts.
IHCL's expansion in the region aligns with broader industry moves to cater to experiential travellers, a segment that continues to drive demand for unique accommodations. As the company notes, the retreat is designed to reflect the rhythms of the wilderness, a concept that resonates with the growing interest in regenerative travel.
With its combination of intimate luxury, local engagement, and wildlife access, Brij Tara is poised to become a notable addition to India's luxury retreat landscape, offering travel advisors a compelling option for clients heading to Ranthambore.
