ITC Hotels Limited has signed a management agreement for a new 101-key Welcomhotel in the Karai area of Gandhinagar, Gujarat, marking another step in the group's expansion across India's high-growth industrial corridors. The property, developed in partnership with M/s Shyam Group Hotel and Resort, is set to open later this year.

Strategic Location and Facilities

Situated on a nine-acre site, the Welcomhotel Karai Gandhinagar will feature well-appointed guest rooms and suites, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a coffee lounge. The hotel will also offer over 10,000 square feet of indoor banqueting and event space, complemented by 46,000 square feet of landscaped outdoor lawns, positioning it as a venue for destination weddings, large social gatherings, and corporate events.

The location between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad provides seamless access to Ahmedabad Airport, GIFT City, and key business hubs, making it a promising micro destination for both business and leisure travelers. This connectivity is particularly relevant for the MICE segment, as the property can cater to large-scale conferences and exhibitions.

Executive Commentary

Anil Chadha, Managing Director of ITC Hotels Limited, emphasized the strategic importance of the location: "Welcomhotel Karai Gandhinagar, with its strategic connectivity and evolving destination appeal, will play a key role in enhancing our network across business, leisure, and the MICE segments."

Kamleshkumar Babulal Chauhan, Partner at M/s Shyam Group Hotel and Resort, expressed confidence in the collaboration, noting that the new hotel will set benchmarks in the region and contribute to Gujarat's development over the next decade.

Broader Context

This signing follows ITC Hotels' recent management deal for a 143-key Welcomhotel in Ayodhya, as reported in our earlier coverage. The group continues to strengthen its presence in markets with evolving demand and long-term growth potential, particularly in Gujarat, which is emerging as a key industrial and tourism hub.

The new Welcomhotel is expected to open this year, delivering a refined hospitality experience that blends contemporary comfort with local character. This expansion aligns with broader trends in India's hospitality sector, where hoteliers are increasingly targeting secondary cities and emerging business corridors to capture demand from both domestic and international travelers.

For travel professionals, the property's focus on MICE and destination weddings—combined with its strategic location near GIFT City—makes it a relevant addition for corporate event planners and tour operators specializing in Gujarat. The hotel's proximity to Ahmedabad Airport also positions it well for international arrivals, particularly as airlines like Qatar Airways expand their long-haul schedules to India.
