The Ascott Limited has confirmed the appointment of Jamila Nsouli as General Manager of its upcoming Somerset Diamond Bay Garden Phnom Penh, a serviced residence slated to open in November 2026. Nsouli, who brings more than two decades of hospitality leadership experience in Cambodia, will oversee the property's pre-opening programme and shape its operational and guest experience frameworks.

Nsouli's career spans executive roles with Accor, Minor Hotels, Relais & Châteaux, LVMH, and Ascott, giving her a broad perspective on luxury and serviced residence operations. Her track record in pre-opening projects and commercial strategy is expected to be instrumental in positioning the new property within Phnom Penh's competitive hospitality market.

“Phnom Penh is evolving so fast yet its hospitality remains deeply personal,” Nsouli said. “At Somerset Diamond Bay Garden, we are combining that local heart with spaces designed for modern life.”

Property details and location

Situated on Koh Pich (Diamond Island), Somerset Diamond Bay Garden will feature 168 units ranging from studios to three-bedroom residences. Each unit will include private balconies, kitchenettes, and in-room washing machines, catering to both short-term and extended-stay guests. Amenities will include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness centre, children's pool and play area, wellness spaces, and rooftop dining.

The property's location offers convenient access to Connexion Mall and the Diamond Convention & Exhibition Centre, with the Norea Bridge connecting residents to other parts of Phnom Penh. This positions the residence well for business travellers and MICE delegates attending events at the nearby convention centre.

The development is part of a management collaboration between The Ascott Limited and Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), a major player in Cambodian property and infrastructure projects. This partnership underscores Ascott's continued expansion in Southeast Asia's emerging markets.

Nsouli's appointment follows a series of leadership changes across the region, including Mandarin Oriental Geneva naming Christian Wildhaber as general manager and Grand Hyatt Bali appointing Sebastian Fischoeder as hotel manager. These moves reflect the ongoing focus on experienced leadership in the hospitality sector.

With Phnom Penh's rapid urban development and growing international business travel, the opening of Somerset Diamond Bay Garden is set to enhance the city's serviced residence offerings. The property will target both corporate clients and leisure travellers seeking long-stay options with hotel-grade services.

Nsouli's deep understanding of the local market, combined with Ascott's global standards, is expected to drive sustainable growth for the property. Her leadership will be key in navigating the competitive landscape and delivering a guest experience that blends Cambodian warmth with modern convenience.
