The Link Hong Kong Open, one of Asia's most storied professional golf events, returns to the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling from 22 to 25 October. For travel professionals arranging client itineraries around the tournament, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong has stepped in as the event's Official VIP Hotel Partner, bundling accommodation with ground access and hospitality perks.

The hotel, perched above Admiralty with views across the harbour, is marketing two tailored packages. The Elite Golf Getaway, valid 20–26 October, pairs a deluxe king room with daily breakfast for two and a pair of season passes to the tournament. Guests can add passes to the 1889 Club, a hospitality lounge serving all-day meals — a useful option for corporate hosts or high-end leisure clients seeking a more curated experience.

For families travelling with young golfers, the Family Fairway Adventure package offers a deluxe room with two double beds, breakfast for two adults and two children, and a daily HKD 200 dining voucher redeemable at the Jockey Club Fan Village. Both packages include golf-themed welcome amenities and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so agents should book early to secure inventory.

Tournament pedigree and player draw

The Link Hong Kong Open carries an “M” Mark from the Hong Kong Major Sports Events Committee, underscoring its status as the city's longest-running professional sporting event. This year's edition features a US$2 million prize purse and will showcase local favourite Taichi Kho, who turned professional in 2022 after a standout collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame.

The tournament is one of only two professional golf events worldwide to have been staged at the same venue for more than six decades — the other being the Masters at Augusta National. That longevity gives the Fanling course a distinct heritage appeal, which JW Marriott's package structure is clearly designed to leverage for both leisure and corporate travel segments.

For hoteliers and destination marketers, the partnership illustrates a broader trend of aligning premium accommodation with major sporting calendars to drive mid-week occupancy and ancillary spend. Similar strategies have been deployed by Marriott properties elsewhere, such as family-focused stay packages in Phuket and Marriott Bonvoy's expansion into southern Taiwan.

JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio, has positioned itself as a base for both business and leisure travellers, with direct access to the city's MTR network and proximity to Central's financial district. The hotel's involvement in the Open also strengthens its ties to the MICE segment, as corporate groups often combine tournament hospitality with meetings or incentive programmes.

Agents and tour operators looking to package the event should note that the packages are available only through the hotel's direct booking channels, and that the tournament's season passes provide entry to all four days of competition. The 1889 Club add-on, named after the year the Hong Kong Golf Club was founded, offers a more exclusive vantage point for clients who prefer premium hospitality over general admission.

With Hong Kong's tourism recovery continuing to gain momentum, events like the Link Hong Kong Open are becoming increasingly important for driving high-value visitors. The collaboration between JW Marriott and the tournament organisers is a clear signal that the city's hospitality sector is actively courting the golf travel niche, which has shown resilience across Asia-Pacific markets.

For travel professionals, the key takeaway is the opportunity to bundle a world-class sporting event with a five-star stay, creating a compelling itinerary for both avid golfers and families. As the October dates approach, availability will tighten, so early confirmation is advisable for clients with flexible schedules.
