Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach has unveiled its 2026 holiday season programme, positioning the Tri Trang Beach property as a festive destination for families, couples, and corporate groups. The initiative underscores Marriott International's broader push to drive off-peak demand in Southeast Asia's competitive resort market.
Festive programming and family appeal
From mid-December through early January, the resort will operate a dedicated Santa Village, daily cookie-decorating sessions for younger guests, and a roster of supervised activities designed to free up parents while keeping children engaged. The programming aligns with trends identified in recent industry research showing that multi-generational travel is a key growth segment for Phuket's hospitality sector.
"We've seen strong demand from both leisure and incentive groups for experiences that blend relaxation with structured festive entertainment," said a resort spokesperson. "Our goal is to offer a seamless holiday experience that appeals to repeat guests and new visitors alike."
Dining highlights
Culinary offerings will centre on Beach Grill and Merchant Kitchen, with Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve buffets featuring premium roasted meats, fresh seafood, live cooking stations, and a selection of festive desserts. The resort is also introducing a dedicated children's buffet to cater to younger palates.
The dining programme reflects a broader trend across Marriott's Asia-Pacific portfolio, where festive F&B packages are increasingly used to differentiate properties. Similar initiatives have been rolled out at other Marriott properties, such as JW Marriott Goa's local thali promotion, highlighting the group's focus on localized culinary experiences.
New Year's Eve gala and entertainment
The resort's New Year's Eve celebration will include a gala dinner, live band performances, and a countdown to midnight with fireworks over the Andaman Sea. The event is expected to attract both in-house guests and local residents, with packages available for external bookings.
For travel agents and tour operators, the resort is offering commissionable festive packages that bundle accommodation, dining credits, and activity passes. The move is part of a wider strategy to strengthen relationships with key source markets, particularly China, Australia, and Europe.
Phuket's hotel sector has rebounded strongly in 2025, with occupancy rates returning to pre-pandemic levels. The festive season is traditionally one of the island's busiest periods, and properties like Merlin Beach are competing for a share of the high-yield holiday market.
Marriott International's regional leadership has emphasized the importance of localized programming and technology-driven personalization. In a recent interview, Marriott's Drew Pinto discussed how AI and localization are shaping hotel competitiveness, a strategy that is evident in the resort's tailored festive offerings.
The resort is also promoting its facilities for MICE groups, with meeting spaces available for year-end corporate events. Combined with the festive atmosphere, this positions the property as a versatile option for companies seeking a tropical backdrop for annual gatherings.
As the holiday season approaches, Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Merlin Beach is expected to maintain high occupancy, with early bookings indicating strong demand from both leisure and corporate segments. The resort's comprehensive festive programme is a clear attempt to capture a larger share of the island's lucrative year-end travel market.
