Radisson Hotel Group has confirmed the signing of Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket, a 328-room lifestyle property slated to open in 2029. The hotel will mark the brand's debut in Australia, bringing its signature blend of bold design and social hospitality to the southern edge of Sydney's central business district.
The 31-storey tower will rise in Haymarket, a precinct known for its multicultural energy, with direct access to Central Station, Chinatown, and the International Convention Centre. The location offers strong connectivity for both domestic and international travellers, with Sydney Airport just a short train ride away.
Strategic expansion for Radisson in Australasia
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Development Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, described the signing as a milestone for the company's growth strategy in the region. "The signing of Australia's first Radisson RED marks an important milestone in our Australasia expansion plan," Younes said.
The property is being developed by Ceerose, a Sydney-based construction and development firm. Edward Doueihi, Founder and Managing Director of Ceerose, said the hotel is designed to reflect the area's ongoing transformation. "Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket has been conceived as a destination that reflects the energy and transformation taking place across this part of Sydney," Doueihi commented.
Facilities and guest experience
Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket will feature a restaurant, a lobby café-bar, and a pool bar, along with 218 square metres of meeting space. Leisure amenities include an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre. The hotel will also offer a dedicated early and late-checkout lounge, catering to the needs of both business and leisure travellers who value flexibility.
The signing adds to Radisson Hotel Group's development pipeline in Australasia, where the company is focusing on lifestyle, upper-upscale resort, and conversion opportunities in key urban and leisure destinations. The group's portfolio in the region already includes Radisson Blu and Radisson Collection properties, and the addition of Radisson RED strengthens its presence in the fast-growing lifestyle segment.
Industry observers note that Sydney's hotel market continues to attract international brands, particularly in the lifestyle category, as demand from both corporate and leisure travellers remains robust. The Haymarket area, historically a hub for Chinese-Australian business and tourism, is undergoing significant redevelopment, with new residential, retail, and hospitality projects reshaping the neighbourhood.
Radisson RED, launched in 2016, is positioned as a tech-savvy, design-forward brand targeting millennial and Gen Z travellers. The Sydney property will be the brand's first in Australia, with additional projects reportedly under discussion in other major cities.
The development comes as Radisson Hotel Group accelerates its global expansion, with a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The company has recently signed several new properties in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, and the Sydney project is expected to serve as a flagship for the brand in the region.
For travel professionals, the new hotel adds another option for clients seeking a contemporary, socially oriented stay in Sydney's CBD. Its proximity to Central Station and the convention centre makes it a practical choice for MICE groups, while the lifestyle positioning appeals to leisure travellers looking for a more vibrant hotel experience.
Radisson Hotel Group operates more than 1,100 hotels worldwide, with a pipeline of over 300 additional properties. The company's Australasia portfolio includes hotels in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji, and the group has stated its intention to double its presence in the region over the next five years.
As Sydney continues to attract major events and business travel, the addition of Radisson RED is likely to be well received by the trade. The hotel's late-checkout lounge and flexible meeting spaces are designed to meet the needs of modern travellers, and its location in the heart of Haymarket places it within easy reach of the city's key attractions and transport links.
The signing also reflects broader trends in the Australian hotel market, where lifestyle brands are gaining traction alongside traditional full-service offerings. With the opening set for 2029, Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket will be one of the first new-build hotels to come online in the city in the next decade, positioning it well for the anticipated growth in tourism and business travel.
