Rosewood Abu Dhabi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Hospitality Academy – Les Roches to cultivate the next generation of hospitality professionals in the UAE. The partnership, announced this week, directly addresses the growing demand for skilled talent in the luxury segment, a critical need as the emirate expands its tourism infrastructure.

Under the agreement, students from Les Roches will gain hands-on experience through internships, operational placements, and mentorship programs at the Rosewood Abu Dhabi property. The curriculum will also include guest lectures and applied learning initiatives, blending academic theory with real-world luxury service standards.

Bridging Academia and Industry

Remus Palimaru, Managing Director of Rosewood Abu Dhabi, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration. “This partnership reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of hospitality professionals by providing meaningful, real-world experiences within a luxury environment,” he said. The hotel, located on Al Maryah Island, is a flagship for the Rosewood brand in the Middle East and a key player in Abu Dhabi’s luxury hospitality landscape.

Georgette Davey, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi Hospitality Academy – Les Roches, noted that the UAE sets global benchmarks in hospitality service. “We are delighted to join forces with Rosewood Abu Dhabi to train our students in delivering culturally grounded service that meets these standards,” she said. The academy, part of the Swiss-based Les Roches network, focuses on experiential learning and industry integration.

The partnership also includes Rosewood Abu Dhabi’s contribution to academic and executive programs through guest lectures, speaking engagements, and collaborative projects. This dual approach aims to create impactful career development opportunities while supporting Abu Dhabi’s broader tourism and hospitality ambitions, including its goal to attract 40 million visitors by 2030.

For travel industry professionals, this initiative signals a growing trend of luxury hotel groups directly investing in talent pipelines. Similar models have been adopted by other operators in the region, such as Thai hospitality leaders who emphasize workforce development to maintain service excellence. The collaboration also aligns with efforts by Abu Dhabi’s tourism authorities to elevate the destination’s appeal for high-net-worth travelers.

As the UAE continues to position itself as a global luxury hub, partnerships like this one between Rosewood and Les Roches are likely to become more common. They provide a structured pathway for students to transition from education to employment, while ensuring that hotels have access to a steady stream of well-trained professionals. This is particularly relevant as luxury hospitality faces increasing competition for talent from other sectors.

The MoU also underscores the importance of cultural sensitivity in service delivery. Davey highlighted that the training will emphasize “culturally grounded service,” a nuance that is essential for luxury properties catering to an international clientele. This focus on localized excellence is a key differentiator for brands like Rosewood, which operate in diverse markets worldwide.

For travel agents and tour operators, the development of skilled hospitality talent directly enhances the guest experience, a factor that influences repeat bookings and destination recommendations. As Abu Dhabi expands its portfolio of luxury hotels and attractions, the quality of service will remain a critical competitive advantage.
