Ruby Garcia is returning to Phulay Bay, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Krabi, Thailand, as general manager. With more than 20 years in luxury hospitality across Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States, Garcia previously served as the resort's director of operations and general manager from 2017 to 2018.
Her career includes senior positions with Mandarin Oriental and Four Seasons. Most recently, she was the opening general manager of COMO Metropolitan Singapore, a role that sharpened her operational acumen and deepened her appreciation for boutique luxury properties.
A return rooted in familiarity
Garcia's return is notable not only for her experience but for her intimate knowledge of Phulay Bay's unique character. During her earlier tenure, she drove strong guest satisfaction scores and oversaw significant long-term investments in the property. Her leadership helped cement the resort's reputation as a pioneer in the Ritz-Carlton Reserve portfolio.
“Returning to Phulay Bay is incredibly meaningful. In many ways, it feels like coming home to family,” Garcia said. “The soul of this resort, combined with the warmth of our team, creates an experience that is truly special.”
Her vision for the property centers on wellness, gastronomy, and locally inspired activities. Garcia aims to deepen guests' connections to Krabi's natural beauty and Thai culture, offering immersive experiences that go beyond traditional luxury.
Phulay Bay, the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve property, features 54 villas, each with a private plunge pool. The resort is known for its dramatic architecture, private beach, and award-winning spa. Garcia's return is expected to further elevate its standing as a premier destination for authentic and exotic experiences.
Her appointment comes at a time when the Ritz-Carlton brand is expanding its footprint. Recent developments include a new all-inclusive Ritz-Carlton in Kemer, Turkey, and the Ritz-Carlton Pune earning a Michelin Key in the 2026 guide. These moves signal the brand's continued evolution across diverse markets.
Garcia was named a finalist for “General Manager of the Year” at the 2026 Stelliers Asia Awards, recognizing her leadership and impact in the hospitality industry. Her return to Phulay Bay is seen as a strategic move to maintain the resort's competitive edge in the luxury segment.
Travel professionals will note that Garcia's background in both large hotel groups and boutique properties positions her well to balance operational excellence with personalized service. Her focus on wellness and cultural immersion aligns with broader industry trends toward experiential travel.
As Phulay Bay enters this new chapter, the resort is poised to strengthen its appeal among discerning travelers seeking a deeper connection to Thailand. Garcia's leadership will be key to delivering on that promise.
