S Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality arm of Singha Estate, will open SunRay Social & Swim Club at its SAii Koh Samui Villas property on 1 August. The adults-only beach club is designed to shift the traditional beach-club paradigm from evening revelry to daytime engagement, with programming that follows the sun’s arc rather than the clock.

Daytime-Focused Programming

SunRay’s schedule is segmented into four phases: First Light, Morning Drift, Peak Sun, and Golden Hour. First Light offers wellness sessions including yoga and Pilates. Morning Drift introduces pool floats, board games, and listening corners with vinyl curated by Bangkok-based Gadhouse. Peak Sun centers on sociable dining with globally inspired comfort dishes and cocktails, capped by a daily Happy Hour from 3–5PM. Golden Hour brings downtempo beats, sunset anthems, fire dance performances, live DJ and saxophone sets, and Muay Thai showcases.

Michael Marshall, CEO of S Hotels & Resorts, said: “SunRay marks the next step in our evolution towards experience-led hospitality. It gives us a new way to bring people together in the hours when the day feels its best, with food, music and atmosphere guided by the sun rather than the clock.”

Expansion Plans

Following the Koh Samui debut, SunRay will roll out to SAii properties in Phuket and the Maldives in October. This expansion aligns with the group’s strategy to differentiate its resort offerings through curated daytime experiences, appealing to travelers seeking wellness and social connection without the nightclub scene.

For travel professionals, the concept offers a new product to package for clients interested in boutique, experience-led stays. GHA DISCOVERY members can purchase a SunRay Day Pass for $42 (THB 1,500), which includes pool access, signature activities, and $56 (THB 2,000) in food and beverage credit. This pricing positions SunRay competitively against other premium beach clubs in Southeast Asia.

The launch comes as the travel industry sees growing demand for daytime socializing and wellness-focused experiences, particularly among millennial and Gen Z travelers. S Hotels & Resorts is betting that SunRay’s sun-synced programming will resonate with guests at its SAii brand properties, which already emphasize design and local culture.

Industry observers note that the concept could be replicated at other resort groups looking to maximize daytime revenue and differentiate from competitors. For agents and tour operators, SunRay provides a new anchor activity for Koh Samui itineraries, complementing existing attractions like the island’s temples, beaches, and diving spots.
