Scenic has unveiled its 2028–29 Discovery Yacht collection, headlined by the inaugural season of Scenic Ikon. This new vessel joins Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II, expanding the fleet to three ships and opening itineraries across the Eastern Mediterranean, Adriatic, Aegean, Atlantic, and West Africa. The program targets luxury travelers seeking intimate ships and deeply curated experiences.
Scenic Ikon carries up to 270 guests in 135 all-verandah suites across five decks, making it slightly larger than its fleetmates while preserving the small-ship privacy and service that define the brand. The ship’s design emphasizes space and exclusivity, with Scenic’s all-inclusive philosophy dialed up: private guided excursions, chauffeur transfers, and helicopter experiences are among the elevated inclusions.
New Ports and Extended Reach
The 2028–29 season introduces first-time calls to storied islands and cities, including Naxos, Milos, Paros, Hydra, Kotor, Zadar, and Istanbul. A standout is an overnight call in Egypt that includes a visit to the Great Pyramids of Giza after dark, offering a rare perspective on one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. These new ports deepen cultural access and private moments for guests.
Beyond sea days, Scenic has expanded handcrafted land journeys across Italy, Malta, Turkey, and Greece. These pre- and post-cruise extensions are designed to link seamlessly with Discovery Yacht voyages, allowing guests to stitch coastlines, cities, and inland regions into a single continuous journey without transfer headaches. As Angus Crichton, Scenic’s director of land product, explains, these journeys were designed to “align pre- or post- a Scenic Discovery Yachts voyage,” delivering a seamless curated experience from first step to last.
Early-booking incentives include a super early bird offer for departures from April 2027 through April 2029, with complimentary helicopter flightseeing among the highlighted perks. This underscores Scenic’s commitment to once-in-a-lifetime vantage points and unforgettable arrival moments.
For luxury voyagers, the 2028–29 season blends secluded islands, UNESCO cities, and exclusive arrival experiences. The small-ship scale with larger-suite comfort balances intimacy and space, while elevated inclusions reduce friction and increase exclusivity. Seamless land-and-sea itineraries let guests experience regions more holistically.
This expansion comes as the luxury cruise sector sees increased competition. Four Seasons Yachts recently added private island experiences to its Caribbean debut, and Emerald Kaia debuted in Venice, expanding Emerald Cruises' luxury yacht fleet. Scenic’s move positions it strongly in the small-ship luxury segment.
Travel professionals should note that Scenic Ikon’s itineraries offer new opportunities for agents and tour operators to sell high-end, all-inclusive packages that combine sea and land. The ship’s capacity and inclusions cater to discerning travelers who value privacy, convenience, and richly connected journeys.
