Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) is sharpening its focus on the Indian outbound market, reporting an 8% year-on-year increase in visitor arrivals from India between April 2025 and March 2026. That growth has cemented India as Sentosa's largest international source market, overtaking other key feeder regions.

The uptick reflects a broader shift in Indian traveler behavior, with demand surging for celebration travel, multi-generational holidays, and immersive experiences. According to SDC data, Indian visitors are increasingly seeking packaged experiences that combine leisure, dining, and entertainment in a single destination.

Addison Goh, Divisional Director of Business & Experience Development at SDC, said: "India remains a strategically important market for Sentosa, not only because of its scale today, but because of the long-term opportunity it represents." Goh noted that SDC is tailoring its product lineup to match evolving Indian preferences through next-generation attractions and year-round programming.

MICE and Corporate Travel in Focus

Beyond leisure tourism, Sentosa is doubling down on the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) segment, particularly among Indian corporate groups. The island offers 19 hotels with over 4,000 rooms, plus a range of event venues that allow delegates to transition seamlessly from business sessions to leisure activities.

Recent additions include the Skyslides by Klook at Skypark Sentosa and a heritage discovery game kit designed specifically for MICE groups. These offerings aim to differentiate Sentosa from other regional MICE destinations such as Bali, Phuket, and Langkawi.

Sentosa's location — just 15 minutes from Singapore's Central Business District — gives it a logistical edge for corporate travelers attending conferences or incentive programs. The island's integrated resort model, anchored by Resorts World Sentosa, provides a self-contained ecosystem for large groups.

For travel agents and tour operators specializing in Indian outbound MICE, Sentosa's expanded inventory and dedicated programming create new packaging opportunities. The island's ability to host groups of varying sizes, from small corporate retreats to large-scale conferences, makes it a versatile option.

Indian carriers such as IndiGo, Air India, and Singapore Airlines have been adding capacity on routes like Delhi-Singapore, Mumbai-Singapore, and Bengaluru-Singapore, improving access for both leisure and business travelers. The recent launch of IndiGo Lite fares also opens up budget-friendly options for Indian travelers heading to Sentosa.

Greater Sentosa Master Plan

Looking ahead, SDC is advancing the Greater Sentosa Master Plan, a long-term blueprint that aims to double annual visitor numbers. Key initiatives include new landmark attractions, enhanced connectivity between Sentosa and mainland Singapore, and rejuvenation of the island's beaches.

The plan envisions Sentosa as "the world's best-loved island playground and sanctuary within a global city" — a positioning that appeals to both international tourists and Singapore residents seeking staycations. For hospitality operators on the island, the master plan signals continued investment in infrastructure and product development.

Sentosa's push into the Indian market aligns with broader trends in APAC travel demand. Data from Klook shows that 95% of travelers are maintaining their 2026 travel plans despite global uncertainties, as reported in APAC Travel Demand Holds Strong. Indian outbound travel, in particular, has shown resilience, driven by rising disposable incomes and a growing appetite for international experiences.

For travel trade professionals — from airline sales teams to hotel booking platforms and GDS operators like Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport — Sentosa's India strategy represents a concrete opportunity to bundle flights, accommodation, and experiences. The island's year-round programming, including festivals, concerts, and seasonal events, provides recurring hooks for marketing campaigns targeting Indian travelers.

SDC's focus on the Indian market is not a short-term play. With the Greater Sentosa Master Plan extending well into the next decade, the corporation is betting on sustained demand from one of the world's fastest-growing outbound travel markets.
