Series by Marriott, the design-led collection within Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio, has strengthened its foothold in South Korea with the opening of three new properties. The additions—UH Seoul Insadong, Anook Signature Incheon Guwol, and Anook Signature Busan Haeundae—bring the brand's total in the country to four hotels, with 377 rooms combined. The new openings add 273 rooms to the market, each property offering a distinct interpretation of local culture and design.

Seoul: A contemporary take on Korean heritage

UH Seoul Insadong occupies a historic building overlooking Cheonggyecheon Stream, in the heart of the capital's cultural district. The hotel's 51 guestrooms feature a monochromatic palette and artworks by Korean artists, creating a serene environment that nods to traditional aesthetics while embracing modern comfort. The location places guests within walking distance of Insadong's antique shops, galleries, and teahouses, making it a natural base for exploring Seoul's artistic heritage.

Incheon: Business and leisure converge

Anook Signature Incheon Guwol targets both business and leisure travelers, situated near Incheon City Hall and major shopping districts. The hotel offers 118 guestrooms and amenities that include a communal bathhouse and Finnish sauna, providing a blend of relaxation and convenience for guests navigating the city's corporate and retail hubs. The property's proximity to Incheon's transport links also makes it a practical choice for those connecting to the wider Seoul metropolitan area.

Busan: A coastal retreat inspired by Eastern wellness

In Busan, Anook Signature Busan Haeundae offers a tranquil escape near Haeundae Beach. The hotel's design draws inspiration from Japanese ryokan, with 104 guestrooms that incorporate Eastern wellness traditions. Guests can enjoy hot-water bathing and complimentary noodles as a signature late-night snack, a nod to the region's culinary customs. The property aims to provide a restorative stay for travelers seeking a slower pace along Korea's southeastern coast.

Duke Nam, Regional Vice President for South Korea, Vietnam, and the Philippines at Marriott International, commented: "These three openings give travelers more choice in how they experience South Korea, from the cultural neighborhoods of Seoul to Incheon's business district and Busan's coast."

All three hotels participate in Marriott Bonvoy, allowing members to earn and redeem points across Marriott's global portfolio. This integration is particularly relevant for frequent travelers and corporate clients who value loyalty benefits when booking in the region.

The expansion comes as South Korea continues to see a rebound in international arrivals, with recent data indicating that Asia-Pacific travel is approaching pre-pandemic levels. The new properties position Series by Marriott to capture demand from both leisure and business segments, particularly in key urban and coastal destinations.

For travel advisors and corporate booking channels, the additions expand the range of options available through Marriott's direct and GDS platforms, including Sabre, Amadeus, and Travelport. The brand's focus on local design and cultural immersion may appeal to clients seeking authentic experiences without sacrificing the reliability of a global loyalty program.

Marriott International's broader strategy in Korea has included partnerships such as the recent co-branded card launch with Samsung Card, which enhances the value proposition for local and visiting members. As the hospitality giant continues to diversify its portfolio, the Series by Marriott brand offers a mid-scale yet design-forward alternative to its full-service and luxury flagships.

The three openings also reflect a broader trend of hotel brands tailoring properties to specific neighborhoods and traveler personas, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model. For operators, this approach can drive higher guest satisfaction and repeat visits, particularly in markets where competition is intensifying.

With the addition of these properties, Series by Marriott now operates four hotels in South Korea, a modest but strategic presence that allows the brand to test concepts before potential further expansion. The mix of urban, business, and coastal locations provides a diverse portfolio that can appeal to a wide range of travelers, from short-stay city breakers to longer leisure vacations.
