The Capital Hotel, Apartments & Townhouse in London's Knightsbridge has completed a comprehensive refurbishment, refreshing its public spaces and all 73 accommodations. The property, part of the Warwick Hotels and Resorts portfolio and a member of PoB Hotels and Small Luxury Hotels of the World, now features a Michelin-starred restaurant, Tom Brown at The Capital, which opened in April 2025.
The renovation, carried out over the past 12 months, updated the reception, concierge area, corridors, and all guest rooms and suites. The design draws inspiration from the surrounding Knightsbridge neighborhood and nearby Hyde Park, using soft natural color tones and organic textures. The hotel, which first opened in 1971, has long been known for its quiet elegance and classic comfort.
Refurbished Accommodations and Dining
The 73 rooms, suites, and apartments are individually designed with original art and bespoke furniture. Categories range from Standard Queen to Deluxe King, with suites including the Hyde Park Suite and Penthouse. All rooms feature marble bathrooms, fine Egyptian cotton bedding, Temple Spa bath amenities, and windows that open. The apartments, available as studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, include self-contained kitchens and are designed for longer stays.
Tom Brown at The Capital, a 28-cover restaurant, received a Michelin star in the 2026 Michelin Guide. Chef Tom Brown's menu focuses on seafood with an emphasis on sustainability, alongside meat and vegetarian dishes. The Capital Bar offers rare spirits and signature cocktails, while The Library serves traditional afternoon tea.
The hotel's location on Basil Street places it a few minutes' walk from Harrods, Harvey Nichols, and Sloane Street. Services include 24-hour room service, concierge, laundry, babysitting, and personal shoppers for Harrods.
The refurbishment positions The Capital Hotel to compete in Knightsbridge's luxury market, which has seen mixed recovery. The property's heritage as one of London's first boutique hotels—it claims to have coined the term—and its Michelin-starred dining give it a distinct edge for discerning travelers.
