TUI BLUE has expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia with the official opening of TUI BLUE Han River in Da Nang, Vietnam. The 125-room property, developed by Thaigroup, adds a new option for leisure and business travellers along the scenic Han River, a stretch that has become a focal point for the city's tourism growth.
The hotel combines accommodation, dining, wellness, and business facilities under one roof, aiming to cater to both international visitors and the growing MICE segment in central Vietnam. Da Nang has emerged as a key destination in the country's tourism strategy, with direct flights from major Asian cities and a reputation for beach resorts and cultural attractions.
Design rooted in local identity
Dewan Architects, the firm behind the project, has positioned the hotel as a bridge between global hospitality standards and Vietnamese cultural elements. Mohammed Adib, Chief Design Officer at Dewan, emphasised the importance of blending perspectives: “The strongest projects are those where these perspectives come together to create something distinctive.”
The design draws inspiration from Da Nang's heritage and modern energy, creating an environment that is both sophisticated and welcoming. Axel de Boynes, General Manager of TUI BLUE Han River, noted: “The design seamlessly integrates our core brand pillars—authentic local experiences and modern wellness—with Da Nang's vibrant energy.”
This opening follows a trend of international hotel brands entering Vietnam's secondary cities. Earlier this year, Hilton launched its first Tapestry Collection resort in the country, signalling growing confidence in the market. For TUI BLUE, the Han River property represents a strategic move to capture demand from both leisure travellers and corporate clients seeking a base in central Vietnam.
Awards and recognition
TUI BLUE Han River has already received industry recognition, winning Asia's Best Hospitality Interior Design and Asia's Finest Boutique Hotel at the 2026 Asia Architecture Design Awards. Dewan Architects was also named Asia's Best Firm in Architecture Design and Hospitality Architecture Design, underscoring the studio's growing influence in the region.
The hotel's opening adds to a wave of new hospitality developments across Asia. In Thailand, RIU Hotels & Resorts recently debuted its first property in the country with a 504-room resort in Phuket, while Centara opened a Himalayan hideaway in Pokhara, Nepal. These openings reflect a broader expansion of international brands into emerging Asian destinations.
For travel professionals, TUI BLUE Han River offers a new option for clients seeking a blend of urban convenience and wellness-focused stays. The property's location along the Han River places it within easy reach of Da Nang's beaches, the Marble Mountains, and the city's growing dining and nightlife scene.
As Da Nang continues to attract investment in tourism infrastructure, the arrival of TUI BLUE adds to a competitive landscape that includes both global chains and boutique independents. The hotel's early awards suggest that design and guest experience will be key differentiators in this market.
With operations now underway, TUI BLUE Han River stands as a testament to Dewan's ability to deliver ambitious hospitality projects that resonate with both international and local audiences. The property is expected to play a role in positioning Da Nang as a year-round destination for both leisure and business travel.
