Akasa Air continues its aggressive domestic expansion with the addition of Jaipur as its 29th destination in India. Starting 11 October 2026, the low-cost carrier will operate daily nonstop flights between Jaipur (JAI) and both Mumbai (BOM) and Bengaluru (BLR). The airline has opened bookings via its website, mobile app, and major online travel agencies.
Strengthening Rajasthan's Air Links
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, serves as a major gateway for leisure and business travel, blending cultural heritage with a growing economic base. The new routes directly connect the Pink City to India's financial and technology hubs, supporting tourism, trade, and regional development. Akasa Air already serves Udaipur and will launch additional flights from Udaipur to Mumbai and Bengaluru on 15 October, further deepening its presence in the state.
Anand Srinivasan, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, commented: “The launch of services to Jaipur marks another milestone in the continued expansion of our domestic network. Rajasthan is an important market for Akasa Air, and with Jaipur becoming our second destination in the state, we are pleased to offer customers more travel options and greater connectivity.”
The carrier's strategy focuses on linking major metro cities with high-potential regional destinations, a model that has proven effective in stimulating secondary markets. By adding Jaipur, Akasa Air aims to capture both leisure travelers visiting Rajasthan's forts and palaces, as well as business passengers connecting to India's commercial centres.
Fleet and Operational Context
Akasa Air operates a fleet of 40 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, known for fuel efficiency and lower emissions. The airline has also been investing in sustainable aviation fuel partnerships, including a recent agreement with BPCL to scale SAF usage in India. The modern fleet offers passengers USB charging ports and enhanced cabin comfort, aligning with the carrier's customer-service focus.
This expansion comes as Indian aviation sees robust domestic demand, with carriers like Akasa Air, IndiGo, and Air India Group competing for market share. Jaipur Airport, managed by the Airports Authority of India, has seen steady traffic growth and is a key node in the country's regional connectivity scheme.
For travel professionals, the new services open opportunities for package tours combining Jaipur with Udaipur, as well as corporate travel itineraries linking Rajasthan to Mumbai's financial district and Bengaluru's tech ecosystem. The daily frequency ensures reliable connections for both point-to-point and connecting passengers.
Akasa Air's network now spans 29 domestic destinations, with a focus on underserved routes. The airline has not disclosed plans for international operations but continues to build domestic density. Industry observers note that the carrier's measured growth and focus on operational reliability position it well in a competitive market.
