Amilla Maldives, located in the UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve of Baa Atoll, has introduced The Clay Studio, a dedicated pottery workshop developed in partnership with The Clay Studio Maldives. This new facility is designed for guests of all ages and skill levels, offering a hands-on introduction to ceramics that draws on Maldivian creative traditions.

Creative Workshops for All Skill Levels

The Clay Studio provides a range of artistic activities, including wheel throwing, hand-building techniques, and pottery painting. A full-time Ceramic Art Instructor is on site to guide participants through each process, ensuring a comprehensive experience. In addition to ceramics, the studio also hosts canvas painting and candle-making workshops, broadening its appeal to guests with varied creative interests.

This initiative aligns with Amilla Maldives’ broader commitment to holistic wellbeing and cultural enrichment. Resort Manager Shiman Mohamed commented: “This partnership with The Clay Studio Maldives beautifully reflects our dedication to celebrating local creativity. By bringing this contemporary ceramic tradition to our shores, we look forward to honouring homegrown talent and offering our guests an intimate, immersive way to engage with Maldivian creative culture.”

The Clay Studio is the only resort-based ceramic art studio in the Maldives, enhancing Amilla’s existing cultural and artistic programming. Guests can create personalised keepsakes, which are fired in the resort’s on-island electric kiln, serving as meaningful mementoes of their stay.

Amilla Maldives continues to blend luxury with sustainability, offering a rich tapestry of experiences that celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Maldives. For travel professionals, this addition represents a differentiated offering in the competitive Maldives luxury resort market, where unique, hands-on cultural experiences are increasingly valued by discerning travellers.

For context, other Maldives properties are also expanding their experiential portfolios. SAii Lagoon Maldives CEO: Time Is the Ultimate Luxury, Vows to End Island Transit Hassles highlights how time-saving innovations are becoming a key luxury differentiator. Meanwhile, Ventive Hospitality Deploys 3D-Printed Reefs at Anantara Dhigu Maldives to Combat Coral Degradation underscores the industry’s growing focus on sustainability.

As the Maldives luxury segment evolves, properties that offer authentic, locally rooted experiences—such as Amilla’s new pottery studio—are well positioned to attract guests seeking more than just sun and sand.
