BWH Hotels has strengthened its Bangkok footprint with the debut of SureStay by Best Western Siriraj Bangkok, a 148-room property on Arun Amarin Road in the Thon Buri district. The hotel sits less than a kilometre from Siriraj Hospital, one of Thailand's premier medical institutions, and is positioned to serve both medical travellers and leisure visitors exploring the capital's heritage sites.

The opening reflects a broader trend in Bangkok's hospitality market, where demand is growing for international-standard accommodation outside the traditional commercial core. Olivier Berrivin, vice president for Asia-Pacific at BWH Hotels, noted that while Bangkok remains the world's most-visited city, an increasing number of guests are seeking properties near major urban attractions, transport hubs, or healthcare facilities. "With its strategic location near Siriraj Hospital, just moments from the historic heart of the city and with rooms for short and extended stays, SureStay by Best Western Siriraj Bangkok is set to appeal to a new wave of visitors," he said.

Location bridges medical access and cultural tourism

The hotel's position in Thon Buri places guests within easy reach of Rattanakosin, Bangkok's historic district, home to the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Khao San Road's backpacker scene and Yaowarat's bustling Chinatown are also nearby, offering traditional dining and night markets. For those venturing further, Thon Buri Railway Station provides rail connections to Kanchanaburi, gateway to Erawan National Park and the Bridge on the River Kwai.

This dual appeal—proximity to a major hospital and access to cultural landmarks—gives the property a distinct edge over hotels concentrated in Sukhumvit or Silom. It also aligns with the growing segment of medical travel, a sector that has seen shifts due to regional dynamics. As noted in recent coverage of medical travel rerouting, patients increasingly seek destinations that combine quality healthcare with recovery-friendly environments.

Design and amenities target modern travellers

The hotel's 148 rooms feature comfortable bedding, dedicated work areas, and contemporary technology, catering to both business and leisure guests. On-site facilities include a swimming pool, fitness centre, and a boardroom, supporting a range of needs from short stays to extended recuperation periods. The interior design blends Japanese minimalist aesthetics with Scandinavian-inspired warmth, creating a calm atmosphere that suits the historic surroundings.

As part of the SureStay brand, the property emphasises quality, service, and value. Guests can enrol in Best Western Rewards, BWH Hotels' loyalty programme, which offers points that never expire and can be redeemed for free nights, airline miles, or gift cards—a key consideration for frequent travellers.

Expanding BWH Hotels' Thailand portfolio

With this opening, BWH Hotels now operates 18 properties in Greater Bangkok and 30 across Thailand. The group's global five-year development strategy targets approximately 200 new hotel openings, with Thailand remaining a priority market. The new property complements recent moves in the region, such as InterContinental Bangkok's alpine tea experience, underscoring the competitive landscape for distinctive hospitality offerings in the capital.

For travel professionals, the SureStay Siriraj Bangkok represents an opportunity to tap into the medical travel segment, which continues to grow as patients seek accredited facilities abroad. The hotel's location near Siriraj Hospital—a leading centre for complex procedures—positions it well for medical tourism operators and agents arranging treatment packages. Additionally, its proximity to cultural sites makes it an attractive base for tour operators crafting heritage itineraries.

BWH Hotels' expansion in Bangkok also reflects a broader shift toward secondary locations within major cities. As the capital's tourism evolves, properties like this offer alternatives to the crowded commercial districts, appealing to travellers who prioritise convenience and authenticity. The hotel's connection to Thon Buri Railway Station further enhances its utility for those exploring beyond Bangkok, linking to destinations like Kanchanaburi.

With the opening, BWH Hotels reinforces its commitment to the Thai market, providing a product that bridges medical access, cultural discovery, and transport connectivity. The property is now accepting reservations, and industry observers will watch how it performs in a competitive landscape that includes both global brands and local boutique players.
