Carnival Cruise Line has officially unveiled its next-generation vessel, Carnival Destiny, the first ship in the newly announced Ace Class. The steel-cutting ceremony took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, marking the latest chapter in a partnership that has spanned more than three decades.
Scheduled to enter service in summer 2029, Carnival Destiny is designed to elevate the guest experience through a focus on ocean views and guest engagement. The ship will feature an unprecedented number of ocean-view balcony cabins, a reimagined lanai deck, and over 45 acres of glass, including expansive multi-storey glass walls. These elements aim to create a constant visual connection between guests and the sea.
New Concepts and Venues
According to Carnival, more than 70% of the ship's venues and attractions will be entirely new concepts. This includes dining, bars, lounges, entertainment, and outdoor spaces. The ship will also sail to destinations in the Paradise Collection, which encompasses exclusive locations in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico.
"Carnival Destiny builds on a legacy that changed cruising once before, reimagining what guests can experience at sea," said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. "With this ship, we're elevating the guest experience again, creating a ship that feels more expansive whilst helping guests feel more connected and ultimately have more fun."
Further details about Carnival Destiny's specific features are expected later this year. The Ace Class is set to include two additional vessels, slated for delivery in 2031 and 2033, continuing Carnival's expansion and innovation in the cruise industry.
This announcement comes as the cruise sector sees increased investment in new tonnage, with rivals like Royal Caribbean International also debuting new classes, such as the Icon Class with Legend of the Seas. For travel professionals, Carnival Destiny represents a significant opportunity to market a fresh product with a strong emphasis on ocean views and novel onboard experiences.
The partnership with Fincantieri has been a cornerstone of Carnival's fleet expansion. The Italian shipbuilder has constructed numerous vessels for the line over the past 30 years, and the Ace Class marks a new design direction. The ship's emphasis on glass and open sightlines is a deliberate move to differentiate Carnival Destiny in a competitive market where guests increasingly seek immersive, nature-connected experiences.
For agents and tour operators, the Ace Class ships will offer new itineraries in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Mexico, regions that remain core to Carnival's deployment strategy. The Paradise Collection destinations are exclusive to Carnival, providing a unique selling point for advisors.
As the cruise industry continues to rebound and expand, Carnival's investment in new tonnage signals confidence in long-term demand. The Ace Class is positioned to appeal to both loyal Carnival guests and new cruisers seeking a modern, ocean-focused experience.
