Sunset Hospitality Group has expanded its Mediterranean footprint with the opening of Casa Mett Sitges, a five-star boutique property in the historic Catalan town of Sitges. The hotel, which welcomed its first guests on 1 August, is positioned as a lifestyle destination combining design, gastronomy, wellness, and social programming along the Costa Daurada.
The property occupies five Noucentista villas that form part of Sitges' Architectural and Cultural Heritage. Formerly the Hotel Capri, the buildings have been extensively reimagined while preserving their early 20th-century character. The result is a 38-room hotel located roughly 100 metres from the beach, with many rooms featuring private terraces designed to evoke a residential feel.
F&B and social spaces
Dining at Casa Mett Sitges centres on Balera, a restaurant that draws inspiration from the Italian coastline. The menu highlights seasonal produce, antipasti, and fresh pasta, supported by a curated wine list and signature cocktails. The Pool Club functions as the hotel's social anchor, offering music, drinks, and daytime dining in a sun-drenched setting.
For groups and events, the hotel's flexible spaces can accommodate private functions, aligning with the growing demand for boutique MICE venues in the Barcelona region. Sitges' proximity to Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) — roughly 30 minutes by car — makes it a practical option for corporate retreats and incentive travel.
Wellness and amenities
Wellness is a core pillar at Casa Mett Sitges. The dedicated area uses Valmont products and includes treatment rooms, a sauna, and a gym equipped by Life Fitness. This focus on recovery and fitness reflects broader trends in luxury hospitality, where wellness offerings increasingly influence booking decisions.
The opening adds to Sunset Hospitality Group's portfolio, which spans hotels, restaurants, and beach clubs across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. The group's entry into Spain signals continued confidence in the Iberian market, which has seen robust tourism demand in 2025.
Sitges itself remains a draw for international travellers, known for its film festival, LGBTQ+ scene, and cultural calendar. The town's appeal extends beyond summer, with year-round events that support shoulder-season occupancy.
For travel advisors, Casa Mett Sitges offers a new upscale option in a destination that has traditionally leaned toward boutique guesthouses and resort hotels. The property's design-led approach and wellness facilities could appeal to clients seeking a refined coastal escape with easy access to Barcelona.
Sunset Hospitality Group has not disclosed room rates or booking channels, but the hotel is expected to be listed on major GDS platforms, including Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport, facilitating agent bookings.
The opening follows other recent hospitality debuts in the region, such as Meliá's new oceanfront property in Vietnam, underscoring the continued global expansion of lifestyle brands. Closer to home, Mondrian's Seoul debut highlights how design-led hotels are differentiating themselves in competitive urban markets.
As the travel industry shifts toward experiential stays, Casa Mett Sitges appears well positioned to capture demand from both leisure and bleisure travellers. Its blend of heritage architecture, contemporary comfort, and wellness amenities offers a distinct proposition on the Catalan coast.
