Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld has secured four certifications from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), reinforcing its position as a leader in sustainable and accessible MICE operations. The property earned the Thailand Sustainable Event Management Standard (TSEMS) at Level 3 Leading, the highest tier in Thailand's sustainable event management framework.

In addition to TSEMS, the venue renewed its Thailand MICE Venue Standard (TMVS) certification and received recognition for Friendly Design for MICE Venue and TCEB Hygiene & Hybrid. These accolades underscore the property's commitment to sustainable operations, inclusive design, and rigorous safety standards.

Robert Maurer Loeffler, Vice President Operations and General Manager of Centara Grand at CentralWorld, commented: “These certifications are a testament to the dedication and passion of our entire team. They reflect the standards we strive to uphold every day and our ongoing focus on creating exceptional event experiences through responsible hospitality, outstanding service, and continuous improvement.”

Implications for the MICE Sector

The certifications position Centara Grand as a premier choice for both domestic and international events, further elevating Thailand's profile as a leading MICE destination. The TSEMS Level 3 Leading standard aligns with global sustainability trends, offering event organizers a venue that meets rigorous environmental and social criteria.

This achievement comes as the hospitality industry increasingly prioritizes sustainability certifications. Similar initiatives, such as the WTTC's transformation of Hotel Sustainability Basics into an independent certification scheme, highlight the growing demand for verified sustainable practices. Centara's broader portfolio also reflects this focus, as seen in the rollout of Signature Touchpoints across its properties to enhance guest experience.

The Friendly Design for MICE Venue certification ensures accessibility for all attendees, a critical factor for international events. The Hygiene & Hybrid certification addresses post-pandemic health protocols and hybrid event capabilities, essential for modern MICE operations.

For travel professionals, this development signals that Centara Grand is equipped to handle complex, high-standard events. The certifications provide assurance to corporate planners and associations seeking venues that prioritize sustainability, inclusivity, and safety.

As the MICE industry evolves, such certifications become differentiators. Centara Grand's achievement may inspire other properties in the region to pursue similar standards, contributing to Thailand's reputation as a sustainable MICE hub.
