The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), together with the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT) and Guangdong Grandeur International Exhibition Group, has confirmed the World Travel & Culture Expo 2026 (WTCE 2026) for 29–31 October at IMPACT Mueang Thong Thani. The event is designed to strengthen Thailand's position as a central ASEAN hub for tourism, trade, and investment.

Pasakorn Rangsiwatanasak, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports, underscored the expo's role in leveraging tourism, culture, sport, and creative industries as economic drivers. "WTCE 2026 demonstrates Thailand's commitment to harnessing these sectors as engines of economic growth," he said.

The expo coincides with the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations and supports China's "Thousands of Sails Go to Sea" policy, which encourages international business expansion. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool noted that the event aligns with TAT's "Value over Volume" strategy, prioritizing meaningful experiences and sustainable tourism over sheer visitor numbers.

Five Specialized Expositions Under One Roof

WTCE 2026 will host five concurrent specialized expositions, including the Thailand Amusement and Attraction Parks Expo and the ASEAN LED Display, Prolight, Sound and Entertainment Technology Expo. This format allows travel professionals to explore multiple industry segments in a single venue, from entertainment technology to destination marketing.

The 2025 edition of the expo attracted participants from 36 countries and achieved a 98% success rate in business negotiations, according to organizers. That track record positions WTCE 2026 as a strategic platform for regional collaboration, particularly given China's status as Thailand's leading international visitor market.

From January to July 2026, Chinese arrivals to Thailand rose 14.76% year-on-year. TAT forecasts more than 5.13 million Chinese visitors by the end of 2026, reinforcing the importance of the Chinese market for Thai tourism stakeholders. The expo aims to convert this traffic into deeper partnerships across airlines, hotel groups, tour operators, and travel-tech vendors.

Bangkok's MICE sector continues to gain momentum. Earlier this year, the city prepared to host 15,000 delegates for the IMF-World Bank annual meetings, a major win for Thailand's business events industry. WTCE 2026 adds another large-scale gathering to the calendar, further cementing Bangkok's reputation as a premier MICE destination in Southeast Asia.

For travel professionals, the expo offers direct access to decision-makers from China and across ASEAN. Airlines such as Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, and Chinese carriers like China Southern and Air China are expected to participate, alongside hotel groups including Minor Hotels, Dusit Thani, and Mandarin Oriental. GDS systems Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport will likely be represented, given the event's focus on trade and technology.

Tour operators and travel agents can expect networking opportunities with destination management companies and tourism boards from across the region. The expo's alignment with the 50th anniversary of Thai-Chinese relations may also spur special travel packages and cultural programs, benefiting both leisure and business travel segments.

With its emphasis on sustainable tourism and high-value experiences, WTCE 2026 reflects broader industry trends. As TAT's "Value over Volume" strategy gains traction, the expo serves as a bellwether for how destinations can balance growth with quality. Travel professionals attending will gain insights into emerging consumer preferences, particularly among Chinese travelers seeking authentic, culturally immersive experiences.

Registration details and a full list of exhibitors are expected to be released in early 2026. For now, the event stands as a key date on the regional MICE calendar, offering a concentrated opportunity for business development and cross-sector collaboration.
