Centara Hotels & Resorts has expanded its footprint into Nepal with the opening of the Himalayan Hideaway Resort Pokhara, The Centara Collection, a 42-key property perched in the hills of Kaskikot, a 35-minute drive from Pokhara. The resort offers panoramic views of the Annapurna Range and Fishtail Mountain, positioning it as a base for adventure and wellness travel in one of the world's most dramatic mountain landscapes.

The property is part of Centara's push into high-altitude destinations, responding to a surge in mountain tourism across Nepal. According to the Nepal Tourism Board, international arrivals have rebounded strongly post-pandemic, with trekking and mountaineering segments leading growth. The resort aims to capture both leisure travelers and the growing wellness retreat market.

Accommodation and design

The resort's rooms and villas blend modern comfort with local craftsmanship, featuring minimalist interiors in warm timber and large windows that maximize natural light. Categories include Deluxe Garden Terrace, Skylight Suite, One Bedroom Villa, and One Bedroom Pool Villa. The Skylight Suite and villas are suited for families, while the Deluxe Garden Terrace offers interconnecting rooms. Each unit is equipped with smart TVs, in-room safes, coffee/tea makers, minibars, and free Wi-Fi.

Dining and wellness

Four dining outlets provide a culinary journey through Nepal and beyond. The Bistro serves all-day dining with local and international dishes, including Nepalese and Indian specialties. Thai Kitchen offers pan-Asian cuisine with Indian, Chinese, and Thai flavors, set beside the pool. The Summit bar and lounge serves cocktails with a Himalayan twist, and the Tea House features teas sourced from across Nepal, from herbal infusions to robust Himalayan blends.

For guests seeking culinary skills, the resort offers hands-on cooking classes covering traditional Nepalese dishes like momo, sel roti, and yomari, as well as Thai favorites such as tom yum soup and green curry.

The wellness offering is anchored by SPA Cenvaree, which provides yoga, sound healing, and signature Thai massage rituals. Guests can also join guided village walks, access nature trails, or paraglide over the valley. The resort's eco-conscious ethos is reflected in its design and operations.

Holistic Wellness Retreat package

Available for bookings through 22 December 2027, the Holistic Wellness Retreat package includes daily holistic breakfast, spa massage, infrared sauna, guided yoga, a sunrise hike to Kaskikot, a personalized wellness dinner, afternoon tea, welcome drink, and round-trip airport transfers. CentaraThe1 members receive a 15% discount on room rates.

The opening aligns with broader trends in mountain and wellness tourism. Similar properties, such as Araiya's mountain retreat in Kerala, are tapping into this demand. Centara's move also follows the debut of other international brands in the region, including Hilton's first Tapestry Collection resort in Vietnam.

With Nepal's tourism infrastructure improving and Pokhara serving as a gateway to the Annapurna circuit, the resort is well positioned to attract both international and regional travelers. Centara's entry into Nepal marks a strategic step in its global expansion, adding a high-altitude destination to its portfolio.
