Cloudbeds, the San Diego-based hospitality management platform, has forged a direct integration with Muse, Meta's personal AI agent, giving hotels a new channel to capture bookings from travellers who plan and reserve through conversational AI. The move, announced this week, lets participating properties appear in Muse's travel recommendations with real-time rates and availability, and guests can complete reservations directly through the hotel's own Cloudbeds Booking Engine.

For hoteliers, the integration tackles a persistent pain point: the rising cost of distribution through online travel agencies and other intermediaries. By plugging into AI-driven travel demand at the source, hotels can protect margins and grow direct reservations. Adam Harris, CEO of Cloudbeds, framed the shift in stark terms: “Every time travel discovery shifts – metasearch, mobile, now AI agents – the industry’s reflex is to let someone else own the guest and charge the hotelier for the privilege. We’re not doing that again.”

How the integration works

Muse, which launched in September 2026, assists travellers with trip planning, comparing options, and completing bookings. Previously, hotel discovery through Muse relied on consumer travel websites, which often meant hotels had limited control over their presentation and pricing. With the new integration, Muse can access a hotel's live inventory and rates directly, and reservations flow seamlessly into Cloudbeds' Property Management System as direct bookings. Hotel teams can capture this demand without needing additional integrations or learning new systems.

The rollout is scheduled to begin in the United States in the first quarter of 2027, as part of Cloudbeds' Digital Marketing solutions. The company says the integration will enhance the guest relationship by giving hotels more direct touchpoints and streamlining the booking process.

This development comes amid a broader industry push to harness AI for measurable returns. As travel firms demand more from their technology investments, the ability to convert AI-driven demand into direct, commission-free bookings is a tangible win. The integration also aligns with trends seen in other sectors, such as the shift from AI pilots to profit across the travel industry.

For hoteliers, the appeal is clear: a direct line to a growing segment of AI-savvy travellers without the hefty commissions. The integration also complements other revenue-management tools, such as the IDeaS G3 RMS used by properties like the Royal Garden Hotel, which sharpen pricing and demand forecasting.

Cloudbeds' move is part of a larger trend of hospitality technology vendors seeking to own the guest relationship in the age of AI. As AI agents like Muse become more prevalent, the battle for direct bookings will intensify. The company's stance is clear: hotels should not cede control to third parties, even as discovery shifts to new platforms.

The integration is expected to be particularly appealing to independent hotels and small chains that lack the negotiating power of large groups. By leveraging Cloudbeds' technology, these properties can compete more effectively for direct bookings, even as AI reshapes how travellers search and book.

Industry observers will be watching to see how Meta's Muse adoption grows and whether other property management systems follow suit. For now, Cloudbeds is positioning itself as a pioneer in connecting hotels to AI-driven demand, a move that could redefine distribution strategies in the hospitality sector.
