Crystal has released its 2028-2029 cruise calendar, covering voyages on Crystal Symphony, Crystal Serenity, and the newly introduced Crystal Grace. The season, open for bookings from 20 October, spans the Asia-Pacific, Caribbean, South America, and the Atlantic, with a mix of returning favorites and fresh destinations.

Among the new calls are Akita, Amami, and Kumamoto in Japan, plus Hilo in Hawaii, marking a new Pacific stop. In Australia, Cooktown, Port Arthur, and Phillip Island join the roster, while Central America gains Corinto in Nicaragua and Puerto Quetzal in Guatemala. Indonesia contributes Surabaya and Rinca Island, the latter known for its Komodo dragons.

Mario Parodi, Crystal's vice president of itinerary planning and port and fuel operations, said the season is designed to offer guests fresh perspectives on familiar regions. “From the Pacific and Asia to South America and the Atlantic, these itineraries give our guests new ways to explore familiar regions whilst reaching destinations that are less frequently visited,” he noted.

Ship-by-ship deployment

Crystal Symphony kicks off its season on 3 October 2028 with voyages through Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, wrapping up in Melbourne on 7 January 2029. Crystal Grace starts on 20 November 2028 with Caribbean sailings before heading to South America, concluding in Lisbon on 2 May 2029. Crystal Serenity departs on 4 December 2028, visiting Central America, Mexico, and Asia, and ends in Seward, Alaska, on 28 May 2029.

The festive period will see themed voyages across the fleet, and the cherry blossom season in Japan is a highlighted draw for spring 2029. The new South American season for Crystal Grace is a particular focus, offering a fresh region for the ship.

These itineraries reflect Crystal's strategy to balance established routes with less-traveled ports, a move that could appeal to experienced cruisers seeking novelty. The inclusion of scenic cruising segments, such as along the Alaskan coast, adds to the appeal.

For travel advisors, the extended booking window and diverse geography provide opportunities to target different client segments, from luxury travelers to expedition-minded guests. The new ports also offer fresh marketing angles, especially for Japan and Hawaii, which remain popular with international travelers.

Crystal's expansion comes as the cruise industry sees robust demand for unique experiences. The line's focus on cultural immersion and off-the-beaten-path destinations aligns with broader trends in luxury travel.
