Delta Air Lines is set to introduce the first-ever nonstop service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, with flights commencing on 27 March 2027. The new route marks a significant expansion of Delta's transatlantic network and positions Austin as a key gateway for European travel.

Operating daily during the peak summer season, the service will be flown with the Airbus A330-900, a modern widebody aircraft featuring four distinct cabin classes: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Delta Main Cabin. Delta One offers fully lie-flat seats and premium amenities, while Delta Premium Select provides extra legroom and wider seats. All cabins include personalized entertainment options.

Strategic importance for Austin and Delta

Joe Esposito, Delta's Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the significance of the new route: "Launching Austin's first nonstop service to Paris is a defining milestone, but it's just one part of our broader investment in the region." The route underscores Delta's commitment to expanding its footprint in high-growth markets.

Beyond direct access to Paris, the service opens up one-stop connections to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India, and Africa through Delta's joint venture with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic. This enhanced connectivity is expected to benefit both leisure and business travelers from the Texas capital.

During the peak summer period, Delta and its partners will offer up to 10 weekly nonstop flights between Austin and Europe, providing travelers with greater flexibility and choice. The new Paris service complements existing transatlantic routes from other U.S. hubs, reinforcing Delta's position as a leading carrier across the Atlantic.

The announcement comes as Austin continues to grow as a major business and leisure destination, with increasing demand for international travel. Delta's investment in the region aligns with broader trends in the aviation industry, where airlines are adding capacity to secondary U.S. cities with strong economic growth.

Travel industry professionals should note that the A330-900 deployment on this route reflects Delta's strategy of using fuel-efficient aircraft on long-haul routes, balancing passenger comfort with operational efficiency. The aircraft's range and capacity make it well-suited for the Austin-Paris sector.

For travel agents and tour operators, the new service offers fresh opportunities to package European itineraries from Austin, leveraging the extensive Air France-KLM network beyond Paris. The daily frequency during summer ensures reliable connections for both leisure and corporate clients.

Delta's move also intensifies competition on U.S.-France routes, with other carriers likely to respond. The airline's joint venture partners, Air France and Virgin Atlantic, will play a crucial role in feeding traffic from Austin through their respective hubs.

As the travel industry continues to recover and evolve, this route announcement signals confidence in sustained transatlantic demand. Delta's investment in Austin is a clear indicator of the city's rising prominence in global air travel.
