EBG Group has officially commenced construction on an integrated wellness community in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant step in the region's ambition to become a global wellness hub. The foundation stone was laid by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, founder of The Art of Living, at the Sai Vishnu Chaturvatika site.

The 55-acre development will bring together three distinct components: Carlton Wellness Retreat, the Sri Sri Panchakarma & Tattva Centre, and Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir. This cohesive ecosystem is designed to blend wellness hospitality, traditional Ayurveda, holistic education, and nature-centric living.

A low-density model for wellness living

Carlton Wellness Retreat, developed by EBG Realty, will feature 36 plots and 35 two-bedroom villas, creating a low-density environment that prioritises tranquillity and personal wellbeing. The retreat is positioned as a residential wellness destination, offering residents and guests a lifestyle that integrates health and mindfulness.

The Sri Sri Panchakarma & Tattva Centre will provide physician-guided wellness programmes, drawing on the ancient principles of Panchakarma detoxification and Tattva-based therapies. Meanwhile, the Sri Sri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir will deliver a holistic educational approach, embedding values, culture, and environmental awareness into its curriculum.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar emphasised the project's focus on comprehensive wellbeing, stating, “True wellbeing is not just about keeping the body healthy; it is about taking care of the body, breath, mind, intellect, memory and ego.” His involvement underscores the spiritual and wellness credentials of the initiative.

Dr. Irfan Khan, Founder and CEO of EBG Group, highlighted the alignment of the project with sustainable engineering and conscious living. He noted that the development contributes to Andhra Pradesh's vision of becoming a global wellness destination, leveraging the state's natural and cultural strengths.

The project reflects a broader trend in the travel and hospitality industry, where wellness is increasingly integrated into real estate and resort developments. As seen with Frasers Hospitality's wellness initiatives, operators are recognising the value of holistic health offerings. Similarly, Cicada Resort Bali Ubud's spiritual sanctuary demonstrates the global appeal of wellness-led hospitality.

For travel professionals, this development signals the growing importance of Tier-2 cities in India as emerging wellness destinations. Ongole, located on the coast of Andhra Pradesh, offers a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it an attractive location for wellness tourism.

EBG Group's commitment to creating wellness-led destinations is part of a larger movement within the industry. As wellness and sustainability reshape luxury property markets, developers are increasingly focusing on projects that promote health and environmental consciousness.

The Ongole development is expected to generate significant interest from both domestic and international wellness travellers, as well as from investors looking to capitalise on the growing demand for holistic living experiences. With its combination of residential, therapeutic, and educational facilities, the project sets a new benchmark for integrated wellness communities in India.
