Edge NYC, the highest outdoor sky deck in the Western Hemisphere, has introduced a new Family Bundle aimed at attracting family travelers to its Hudson Yards observation deck. The package, which coincides with the debut of the venue's revamped indoor experience, offers a 20% discount on admission for families purchasing between four and eight adult and child tickets. Each child also receives complimentary ice cream and an Explorer Guide designed to turn the visit into an interactive scavenger hunt.
The move is part of a broader effort by Edge's operator, Related Companies, to broaden the appeal of the 1,131-foot-high attraction beyond its panoramic views. The new indoor environment, which opened alongside the Family Bundle, features a series of immersive installations that operate year-round, regardless of weather conditions. These include KALEIDOSCOPE, which houses New York City's largest kaleidoscope; PULSE, where glowing orbs respond to visitor movement; CRYSTAL CAVE; and REFLECTIONS, a two-story pathway lined with spinning mirrored panels.
Family-focused enhancements
The Explorer Guide, tailored for children aged 6 to 10, encourages young visitors to engage with both indoor and outdoor elements of the attraction. It transforms the visit into a guided exploration, prompting kids to find specific installations and observe details they might otherwise miss. The guide is part of a growing trend among urban observation decks and cultural venues to offer family-oriented programming that extends the length and depth of a visit.
For travel professionals, the Family Bundle represents a targeted pricing strategy to boost midweek and off-peak visitation, a common challenge for attractions in major gateway cities. By bundling admission with a child-friendly activity and a food incentive, Edge is aiming to increase dwell time and per-capita spend. The package also aligns with broader industry moves to cater to multi-generational travel, a segment that continues to grow. Similar initiatives have been seen at other family-focused properties, such as Ritz-Carlton Bali's partnership with MIKI HOUSE and the multi-generational focus at Asian resorts.
Edge's outdoor deck, which features a glass floor and angled glass walls, remains the centerpiece of the experience, offering uninterrupted views of iconic landmarks such as the Empire State Building, Central Park, and the Statue of Liberty. The new indoor installations are designed to complement these views, providing additional reasons for families to visit even on cloudy or rainy days.
The Family Bundle is available for purchase online and at the box office. Pricing details were not disclosed, but the 20% discount applies to the combined ticket price for groups of four to eight. The complimentary ice cream is redeemable at the on-site café, and the Explorer Guide is provided at check-in.
Edge NYC, which opened in 2020, has become one of New York's most visited paid attractions, drawing millions of visitors annually. The new family offering is expected to strengthen its position in the competitive observation deck market, which includes rivals such as One World Observatory and Top of the Rock. For tour operators and travel agents, the bundle provides a clear selling point when packaging New York itineraries for families.
The launch comes as New York's tourism sector continues its recovery, with international arrivals approaching pre-pandemic levels. Attractions like Edge are increasingly relying on product innovation to differentiate themselves and drive repeat visitation. The Family Bundle, with its combination of savings, interactive elements, and weather-proofing, is a calculated move to capture a share of the lucrative family travel market.
