Emirates is preparing for a surge in passenger traffic at Dubai International Airport (DXB) as the summer travel season kicks off this weekend, with peak departures expected from 3 to 5 July. The airline has issued a set of operational recommendations aimed at reducing congestion and ensuring a seamless experience for travelers transiting through Terminal 3.

To minimize wait times, Emirates recommends that passengers arrive at the airport three hours before their scheduled departure. Immigration clearance should be completed 1.5 hours prior, and travelers should be at their boarding gate one hour before the flight. The airline also suggests using the Dubai Metro to avoid road traffic, noting that metro services operate from 5:00 AM to midnight on most days.

Check-In Flexibility and Early Baggage Drop

Emirates has expanded its check-in options to accommodate the higher volumes. Online check-in via the Emirates app opens 48 hours before departure. Passengers can also drop luggage at the airport up to 24 hours before their flight—or 12 hours for U.S.-bound services—at no extra cost. For added convenience, city check-in desks are available at Dubai International Financial Centre and Ajman Central Bus Terminal.

For those seeking a more personalized experience, Emirates offers a home check-in service in Dubai and Sharjah, where agents complete the process at the customer’s residence. This service is complimentary for First Class passengers and Platinum Skywards members. The airline also reminds travelers to pack smartly, noting restrictions on items such as power banks and e-cigarettes that can cause delays at security.

Passengers can pre-order duty-free products through EmiratesRED.com, with items delivered directly to their seat during the flight. Emirates also provides dedicated support for People of Determination, including priority lanes and assistance from specially trained staff.

The summer push comes as Emirates continues to enhance its premium offerings. Earlier this year, the carrier launched its 18th amenity kit collection in partnership with Bulgari for premium cabins. Additionally, the airline is offering complimentary hotel stays in Dubai for summer 2025 bookings, a move designed to attract both leisure and business travelers.

For travel professionals, these operational tips underscore the importance of advance planning during peak periods. Emirates’ multi-channel check-in strategy and early baggage drop options can help agents advise clients on how to navigate DXB efficiently, particularly during the busy summer months.
