Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has embarked on a sweeping global renovation initiative, with 20% of its portfolio currently under transformation across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. The program includes major redevelopments at Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda and Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva in Switzerland, both slated to reopen in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

Strategic Renewal Across Key Markets

CEO Omer Acar emphasized the brand's commitment to blending heritage with modernity: "Our hotels, whether historic treasures or modern masterpieces, are always central to life's most important moments." The renovations aim to enhance guest experiences while preserving each property's cultural and historical significance.

In Vancouver, Fairmont Pacific Rim is upgrading its wellness offerings with a newly renovated spa and fitness center, expected to be completed by June 2026. The property will also see enhancements to its public spaces and guestrooms.

The most capital-intensive project is Fairmont Southampton's $550 million redevelopment, which will introduce new guestrooms, suites, and a Fairmont Gold experience, alongside a completely revamped food and beverage landscape. The property is expected to reopen in 2026.

In London, The Savoy is undergoing a meticulous restoration of its Art Deco and Edwardian wings. The refreshed Art Deco bedrooms are scheduled to debut in summer 2026, continuing the hotel's legacy of luxury hospitality.

Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa is enhancing its guestrooms and lobby, with completion targeted for December 2026. The property, a landmark in Canada's capital, will maintain its historic character while modernizing its amenities.

These renovations are part of Fairmont's broader strategy to redefine luxury hospitality, ensuring their properties remain at the forefront of the industry. As these projects progress, Fairmont continues to set a benchmark for luxury experiences worldwide.

The initiative comes as global travel demand remains robust, with recent data from Klook showing that 95% of travelers are maintaining their 2026 plans, particularly in the APAC region. APAC Travel Demand Holds Strong as Klook Data Shows 95% of Travelers Keep 2026 Plans.

Fairmont's investment also aligns with broader industry trends, as luxury hospitality groups like Capella Hotel Group expand their global footprint. Capella Hotel Group Names Feisal Jaffer Chief Development Officer to Drive Global Expansion.

The renovations are expected to attract both leisure and business travelers, with Fairmont targeting MICE groups and luxury leisure segments. The company's focus on wellness and heritage aligns with growing traveler preferences for authentic, culturally immersive experiences.
