Gencom, a US-based real estate investment firm, has expanded its luxury hospitality portfolio with the acquisition of the InterContinental Miami, a 652-room property at 100 Chopin Plaza. The deal was completed in partnership with Miami-based White Bridge Capital, which contributed significant equity capital. This marks Gencom's second InterContinental-branded acquisition, following its purchase of the InterContinental New York Times Square in late 2025.

The hotel sits at the confluence of the Miami River and Biscayne Bay, a prime location in the city's financial district. Alessandro Colantonio, Chief Investment Officer at Gencom, said: "InterContinental Miami is a significant addition to Gencom's portfolio and represents an important opportunity to deepen our presence in one of the most dynamic and globally recognised markets in the country."

Strategic rationale and market outlook

The acquisition reflects Gencom's confidence in Miami's trajectory as a global hub for business and tourism. The city has seen sustained demand from both corporate travelers and leisure visitors, supported by a growing international air network. For example, American Airlines' recent return to Haiti from Miami underscores the city's role as a gateway to the Americas.

Ignasi Puig, Managing Director of Acquisitions at Gencom, highlighted the hotel's strong operating performance and its potential for long-term value creation. "The property has demonstrated resilience and growth, and we see significant upside through targeted enhancements and operational efficiencies," he said.

Tommy Campbell, CEO of White Bridge Capital, emphasized the partnership's commitment to unlocking the potential of exceptional assets. "We are pleased to join forces with Gencom on this iconic property and look forward to supporting its continued success," Campbell said.

Property features and recent renovations

The InterContinental Miami recently completed a comprehensive renovation that upgraded guest rooms, the Club InterContinental Lounge, and outdoor event spaces. The hotel offers 35 meeting rooms, a rooftop pool, and a diverse food-and-beverage program, making it a key player in Miami's MICE segment. Its location near the Miami Convention Center and major corporate headquarters positions it well for business events.

As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts' Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, the InterContinental brand continues to pioneer luxury travel experiences globally. The brand's expansion is evident in other markets, such as the recently financed InterContinental Orlando and the innovative tea program at InterContinental Bangkok.

The acquisition also signals continued investor interest in Miami's hospitality sector, which has seen a wave of high-profile deals. With its strong fundamentals and strategic location, the InterContinental Miami is poised to benefit from the city's ongoing growth as a global destination.

Gencom's portfolio now includes a mix of branded and independent luxury properties across the United States and the Caribbean. The firm's focus on value-add opportunities and long-term partnerships has made it a notable player in the hospitality investment space.

White Bridge Capital, a Miami-based investment firm, brings local market expertise and capital to the partnership. The collaboration is expected to drive operational improvements and enhance the guest experience at the property.

As Miami continues to attract international investment and tourism, the InterContinental Miami stands as a landmark asset in the city's skyline. The deal underscores the enduring appeal of well-located, well-operated hotels in major urban markets.
