Great Rail Journeys, a prominent name in escorted rail travel, has introduced its Landmark Collection, a new portfolio of premium rail journeys designed for discerning travellers. The collection, which is now on sale for departures through 2027, spans Europe, Canada, Africa, and the United Kingdom, with itineraries ranging from seven to 17 days.

The Landmark Collection combines some of the world's most iconic rail routes with luxury accommodations and exclusive experiences. Highlights include sipping Champagne while crossing the Swiss Alps aboard the Glacier Express, witnessing an African sunrise from a luxury train, and enjoying private access to historic sites in Scotland.

Dave Riley, CEO of Great Rail Journeys, said: “The most memorable journeys change the way we see a destination. With Landmark, we’ve brought together the experiences travellers often dream about, from iconic trains and remarkable hotels to meaningful moments that connect them more deeply with the places they visit.”

Signature itineraries in the Landmark Collection

The Premium Glacier Express in Switzerland is an eight-day journey that features Excellence Class carriages, guaranteed window seating, and a five-course menu. This itinerary offers travellers an immersive Alpine experience with panoramic views and gourmet dining.

For those seeking a transcontinental adventure, the Premium Canada Coast to Coast Tour spans 17 days and includes Goldleaf Class aboard the Rocky Mountaineer, with stops at iconic Fairmont properties. This journey showcases Canada's diverse landscapes, from the Rockies to the Atlantic coast.

The Orient Express Luxury Rhône Cruise combines a journey from Venice to Paris aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express with a luxury Rhône River cruise. This itinerary blends the romance of classic rail travel with the elegance of river cruising through France's wine country.

The Grand Tour of South Africa offers 17 days of five-star dining and luxurious suites, providing an in-depth exploration of the country's highlights. Meanwhile, the Premium London to Scotland tour includes private access to historic sites, offering a unique perspective on British heritage.

Each journey in the Landmark Collection is accompanied by an expert Tour Manager, ensuring a seamless and immersive travel experience. The collection is designed to appeal to luxury travellers seeking curated, high-end rail experiences.

Great Rail Journeys' move into the luxury segment reflects a broader trend in the travel industry, where demand for premium and experiential travel continues to grow. The company's focus on iconic trains and exclusive experiences positions it well in this competitive market.

For travel agents and advisors, the Landmark Collection offers a new product to present to clients seeking upscale rail holidays. The collection's diverse geographic scope and range of durations provide flexibility for various traveller preferences.

As the travel industry evolves, tour operators are increasingly differentiating their offerings through unique, high-end experiences. Great Rail Journeys' Landmark Collection is a clear example of this strategy, aiming to capture a share of the growing luxury travel market.
