Holland America Line has opened bookings for five new 2027 voyages aboard the extensively refurbished Oosterdam, marking the cruise line's largest fleet investment in its 153-year history. The new itineraries, which begin on 31 October 2027, will showcase the ship's transformation under the Holland America Evolution programme, offering guests the chance to explore the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Caribbean.
First sailings after the transformation
The inaugural post-transformation voyage, a 10-day Adriatic Antiquities cruise, departs from Rome and sails to Trieste, with calls at Pompeii and Sicily, the Greek island of Corfu, Montenegro's Bay of Kotor, and Croatia's Adriatic coast. This voyage is designed to highlight the ship's new features while visiting culturally rich destinations.
Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, expressed enthusiasm for the new era, stating, "One of the great joys of travel is being among the first to discover something new." She added that the company is excited to welcome guests aboard the transformed Oosterdam and to deliver the premium experiences they expect.
Enhanced accommodations and public spaces
The Oosterdam's refurbishment introduces new stateroom and suite categories, including Solo Verandahs and Bridgeview Suites, along with refreshed public areas such as the Grand Dutch Café and Ocean Bar. These enhancements are part of Holland America's strategy to bring the Pinnacle Class experience to more ships, maintaining the line's signature service and welcoming atmosphere.
According to the line, the investment reflects a commitment to modernising its fleet while preserving the classic elegance that loyal guests appreciate. The changes are expected to appeal to both new and returning cruisers seeking upgraded amenities.
Additional 2027 itineraries
Following the initial voyage, the Oosterdam will operate four more journeys: an 11-day Adriatic Antiquities cruise, a 7-day Mediterranean Splendour cruise, a 13-day Cultural Crossing, and an 11-day Caribbean cruise. These sailings provide a range of options for travellers looking to experience the ship's new offerings across different regions.
Holland America has been expanding its deployment in recent years, including new Montreal departures for the 2028 Canada/New England season. The line also plans to add the Arcadia in 2029, boosting its fleet to 12 ships, as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Travel advisors can now book these voyages for their clients, with the line emphasising the appeal of being among the first to sail on the revamped ship. The new itineraries are expected to generate strong demand, particularly for the Mediterranean and Caribbean segments.
