ITC Hotels Limited has strengthened its presence in western India with the acquisition of a 130-key property in Ahmedabad, a key commercial and cultural hub. The move, announced alongside the company’s Q1 FY27 financial results, underscores ITC Hotels’ commitment to expanding its managed portfolio through an asset-light, capital-efficient model.
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, ITC Hotels reported consolidated revenue of $11.2 million (₹936 crore), a 15% increase year-over-year. Profit after tax rose 36% to $2.2 million (₹182 crore), reflecting strong operational leverage and demand recovery across segments. Rooms revenue climbed 8% to $5.1 million (₹430 crore), while food and beverage revenue grew 11% to $4.4 million (₹361 crore).
Strategic Expansion and Pipeline Growth
The Ahmedabad acquisition aligns with ITC Hotels’ ‘asset-right’ strategy, which prioritizes management contracts and selective ownership to optimize capital allocation. In Q1 FY27 alone, the company signed eight new hotels, bringing its managed pipeline to 74 properties with over 7,200 keys. This expansion targets high-demand markets across India, including tier-1 and tier-2 cities where business and leisure travel are converging.
“The acquisition in Ahmedabad is a significant milestone in our growth journey,” said Anil Chadha, Chief Operating Officer of ITC Hotels. “It reinforces our confidence in the Indian hospitality market and our ability to deliver value through disciplined expansion and operational excellence.”
Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage City and a growing MICE destination, has seen increased hotel demand from both corporate travelers and tourists. The new property will operate under the ITC Hotels brand, leveraging the group’s distribution network and loyalty program, Club ITC.
Sustainability Milestones
ITC Hotels also highlighted progress on its environmental goals. The company commissioned a 1.5 MWp captive solar plant at ITC Grand Bharat in Delhi NCR, reducing its carbon footprint. Additionally, ITC Royal Bengal in Kolkata achieved the 13th LEED Zero Water Certification for the group, a benchmark for water neutrality in hospitality. These initiatives are part of ITC Hotels’ broader commitment to sustainable luxury, which resonates with both corporate clients and leisure travelers increasingly prioritizing eco-conscious stays.
The company’s focus on sustainability mirrors trends seen across the industry, such as a&o Hostels’ efforts to cut per-stay emissions and Chiva-Som Hua Hin’s community health and conservation programs. For travel professionals, these certifications signal a competitive edge in attracting environmentally conscious guests and corporate accounts.
Outlook for Hospitality Professionals
ITC Hotels’ Q1 performance and expansion plans offer a positive signal for the broader Indian hospitality sector. With domestic travel demand remaining robust and international arrivals recovering, hoteliers and tour operators can expect continued momentum in key markets. The company’s pipeline of 74 managed hotels—spanning luxury, upper-upscale, and midscale segments—provides ample opportunities for travel agents and MICE planners to secure inventory across India.
For airline executives and GDS systems like Amadeus and Sabre, ITC Hotels’ growth translates into increased room inventory and potential corporate travel partnerships. The Ahmedabad acquisition, in particular, strengthens the city’s appeal as a destination for both business and leisure, complementing recent airline expansions such as Emirates’ deployment of the A380 on the Delhi route and its premium economy rollout across six Indian cities.
As ITC Hotels continues to scale, its focus on operational efficiency and sustainability will likely set benchmarks for the industry. The company’s ability to navigate volatile economic conditions while delivering double-digit growth underscores the resilience of the hospitality sector in India.
