Emirates is deepening its commitment to the Indian market with a series of fleet and cabin upgrades that will see its flagship A380 land in Delhi and its Premium Economy product become available on six Indian routes. The moves, announced this week, underscore the carrier's strategy to capture premium demand in one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets.
A380 Arrives in Delhi, Premium Economy Spreads
From 25 October, Emirates will deploy the A380 on flights EK512 and EK513 between Dubai and Delhi. The four-class configuration includes the airline's Premium Economy cabin, which has been rolled out across a growing number of long-haul routes. Delhi becomes the third Indian city to receive the A380, after Mumbai and Bengaluru.
Premium Economy will now be available on flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Kochi. The cabin features wider seats, additional legroom, and enhanced dining options, positioning Emirates to compete more directly with full-service carriers offering premium-economy products on India–Gulf routes.
"We are pleased to introduce our highly anticipated A380 services to Delhi, a vital gateway in our network from October," said Adnan Kazim, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Kolkata Gets A350 Upgrade
Also starting 25 October, Emirates will upgrade its daily Kolkata–Dubai service to the next-generation Airbus A350. The aircraft features the same Premium Economy cabin, ensuring that all 12 weekly flights between Kolkata and Dubai offer the premium-economy product. The A350's improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions align with Emirates' sustainability goals while providing a more comfortable passenger experience.
Retail Stores and Cultural Touchpoints
Emirates is also investing in physical retail presence in India. The airline will open travel stores in Delhi and Mumbai, with plans for Hyderabad and Bengaluru. These outlets are designed to offer personalized support and showcase the airline's products, including the A380 onboard lounge and Premium Economy seats.
To cater to Indian travelers, Emirates continues to feature regionally inspired menus and a wide range of entertainment options in multiple Indian languages. The airline operates 167 weekly flights across nine Indian gateways, connecting passengers to its global network of nearly 140 destinations.
This expansion comes as Emirates also rolls out next-generation lounges in Munich and Frankfurt, part of a AED 50 million investment program that will extend to Manchester, Mauritius, and Istanbul. For travel agents and corporate buyers, the enhanced Premium Economy offering on India routes opens new upselling opportunities, particularly for business travelers seeking a mid-tier product between economy and business class. The A380's capacity and cabin configuration also make it attractive for group bookings and MICE travel.
Emirates' India push comes amid broader competition in the Gulf–India corridor, where carriers like Air India, IndiGo, and Etihad are also expanding. Air India Ranks Fourth Globally in On-Time Performance for June 2026, highlighting the competitive landscape.
