Onora Hospitality, the parent company of the jüSTa Hotels & Resorts brand, has signed a 50-key conversion property in Kachi Ghati, Shimla. The hotel is scheduled to open in February 2027, becoming the group's sixth property in Himachal Pradesh and deepening its presence in North India's leisure travel market.
The property is positioned as a full-service destination, catering to leisure travellers, families, wedding parties, social gatherings and corporate events. Facilities will include accommodation, dining, wellness, recreation and event spaces, with a swimming pool, spa, children's play area, restaurant and café. A banquet hall with an adjoining lawn will accommodate up to 400 guests, making it suitable for destination weddings and large-scale functions. Parking for approximately 50 cars will also be available.
Ashish Vohra, Founder and CEO of Onora Hospitality, said: “Shimla continues to be an important leisure destination with strong potential across family travel, weddings and experiential hospitality. This signing reflects our focus on identifying properties with distinctive potential and creating stronger hospitality offerings through the jüSTa brand.”
Strategic expansion in high-potential leisure markets
The signing aligns with jüSTa Hotels & Resorts' strategy to grow in leisure destinations with strong demand drivers. The brand aims to leverage its hospitality expertise and distribution network to strengthen its market position and commercial potential. With this addition, jüSTa will operate six properties across Himachal Pradesh, a state known for its hill stations and wedding tourism appeal.
Shimla remains a key draw for domestic travellers, particularly from Delhi and other North Indian cities, and the new property is expected to tap into the growing trend of experiential and celebration-focused travel. The conversion model allows for faster time-to-market compared to greenfield developments, a factor that is increasingly attractive to hotel operators seeking to expand efficiently.
The move also reflects broader momentum in India's hospitality sector, where both domestic and international brands are vying for prime leisure locations. For context, LXR Hotels & Resorts recently debuted in India with The Den Bengaluru, signalling continued interest in the subcontinent's upscale market.
Onora Hospitality's expansion in Himachal Pradesh is part of a wider push to solidify jüSTa's presence in North India's leisure circuit. The brand already operates properties in destinations such as Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie, and the Shimla addition will complement its existing portfolio.
For travel agents and tour operators, the new property offers another option for clients seeking hill-station getaways with comprehensive amenities. The banquet and lawn capacity positions it well for the lucrative destination wedding segment, which has seen robust growth in India. Corporate event planners may also find the facilities suitable for offsites and conferences, given the parking and recreational spaces.
The property's opening in 2027 will come as the hospitality industry continues to recover and evolve, with a growing emphasis on unique experiences and high-quality service. jüSTa's focus on conversion properties allows it to bring its brand standards to existing buildings, often in prime locations that would be difficult to replicate with new construction.
As the brand expands, it will likely face competition from both established hotel groups and newer entrants. However, its regional expertise and commitment to distinctive hospitality could give it an edge in the competitive North Indian leisure market.
